The Rooftop Loader will support the Driver at the Branch, by loading the truck and riding with the Driver to the job site (residential/commercial buildings) to unload the building materials safely and efficiently. The materials will be manually unloaded from flatbed to rooftop using a conveyer belt, with attention paid to the Roofing Contractors' needs and the owners' property. Rooftop loading may be on a flat or sloped roof and one or more stories. This entry level position is an opportunity to learn about our industry, new equipment, and our business operations.
- Ensure safe and accurate delivery of roofing materials to the jobsite.
- Operate a conveyor or crane (if certified) to transport materials to the rooftop.
- Distribute materials evenly across the rooftop.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials by forklift or hand.
- Secure materials properly onto the delivery truck.
- Be knowledgeable about all company products and services.
- Count and verify that all orders are correctly loaded onto outgoing trucks.
- Assist the driver in backing up the truck and inspect the delivery site for safety.
- Prioritize safety by following proper practices and using required safety equipment.
- While at the branch, assist with yard tasks such as material relocation, cleaning, and organizing.
- Help customers load materials onto their vehicles.
- Deliver excellent customer service in a courteous and timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements for Success:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must have a valid driver's license or reliable transportation to and from work
- Experience and interest in physically demanding, labor-intensive work
- Ability to lift 50-100 lbs. properly and repeatedly on a day-to-day basis
- Ability to work on sloped roofs of various pitch and height
- Must wear appropriate PPE (specifically harness) while loading roofs in accordance with safe roof loading policy
- Ability to read work orders and shipping orders, and follow verbal instructions
- Basic math skills for inventory counts
- English verbal and written communication skills to read purchase orders and communicate with team members
- Follow OSHA guidelines for a safe working environment (i.e. work boots, gloves, harness, ladders safety, and equipment safety)
- Be reliable, safe and a team player
- Work Monday through Friday and opportunity for overtime during the busy season
