Saint Therese - St. Mary of the Woods is looking for Medication Technician/LPN to join our dedicated team! St. Mary of the Woods was built with a deep Catholic foundation, and it has an impeccable reputation for quality care in the marketplace. Built in 2005, it has 179 total units with 81 independent living apartments, 48 assisted living apartments and 50 rooms in skilled nursing and transitional care. It is a five-star facility licensed by Medicare and Medicaid, recognized as a 2024 Best Nursing Home by U.S. News and World Report and is open to people of any faith tradition.

A Medication Technician is responsible for:



  • Dispensing oral capsules, pills, elixirs and perhaps subcutaneous insulin to residents
  • Administering prescribed medications to patients and maintain related medical records under immediate supervision.
  • Assist residents in taking the medication; and assess for any side effects or drug reactions.
  • Taking vital signs and/or observe patient to detect response to medication.
  • Documenting when a PRN medication is given and why. If the PRN medication was not effective, document and what intervention was given.
  • Provide assistance and respond to call lights, phone and in-person request for information as needed.
  • Display a positive attitude and respect for all residents, families, and staff.


Schedule available includes working every other weekend and every other holiday:



  • 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. (Part-time 15 hours per two-week pay period)


Qualifications:



  • Must have certification as a Medication Technician or hold a current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Ohio. License must be in good standing.
  • Current CPR certification is required.
  • Previous exprience in medication administration is preferred, but not required.


Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  • Must meet all federal, state, and local health regulations and pass a post-employment-offer physical exam. This requirement includes drug screening, criminal background check, and reference screening.
  • Must have completed the requirements necessary to administer medications in Ohio.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and related software
  • Ability to work with little supervision and make appropriate judgments.
  • Dependability, with the ability to follow direction.
  • Maturity to deal effectively with the demands of the job
  • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
  • Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
