Healthcare Executive Director (HED), SD/IA/NE Ecosystem Location: Field Based South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska Note: Strong preference for candidates to live in South Dakota, Iowa, or Nebraska, but would be open to candidates from the surrounding states. The Opportunity: Healthcare Executive Director (HED) leads our vision by partnering with customers to deliver local healthcare to patients. They collaborate with the Medical Affairs Executive Director (MED) to understand and address the unique needs of each customer, aiming to improve patient outcomes and reduce costs. Together, they enhance the customer experience by facilitating access to our clinical expertise. The HED is responsible for developing and implementing the local ecosystem plan aligned with Genentech and Squad Therapeutic Area strategies. This includes driving business performance, setting priorities, and identifying partnership opportunities. To achieve these goals, the HED leads a team of therapeutic area experts, reimbursement specialists, and clinical education professionals, ensuring their growth and adherence to our Operating Principles
- Deeply understand the unique needs of each customer in their pursuit of improved patient outcomes, lower costs and improved quality of care by building, maintaining and leveraging networks and relationships in the healthcare ecosystem and co-creating solutions with customers.
- Build and foster interconnectedness of the ecosystem through bringing together customers to solve complex healthcare delivery issues Accountable for driving business performance in the ecosystem through execution on therapeutic area strategies by Therapeutic Area Managers Build, lead and motivate a team of people with deep functional and therapeutic area expertise.
- With the ecosystem leadership team, harness the collective expertise of the ecosystem team to engage effectively and compliantly across the ecosystem.
- In partnership with the Medical Affairs Executive Director, define the strategic near and long-term vision for the healthcare ecosystem, develop and deliver the local ecosystem plan that aligns with Genentech and Squad Therapeutic Area strategies and priorities, and help identify opportunities to the Squads for partnership where customer priorities and Genentech priorities intersect.
- Accountable for vertical integration of customer, payer, provider and healthcare system priorities (may include SPs, Medicaid, labs, etc.) to create a complete strategic assessment of the ecosystem and key business drivers Act with a P&L mindset to deliver on maximum impact opportunities and apply resources responsibly to achieve our mission
HED Role Standards Drive Ecosystem Business:
- Actively manage a healthy P&L
- Deep understanding of organizational business and product prioritization frameworks, ecosystem market dynamics, and the impact & implications to overall business performance for accountable products
- Evaluates & deploys resources and engages externally with an outcomes focus, aligning resources (HC, OS, etc) to have the greatest impact, incorporating data insights to inform resourcing decisions
- Leverages a portfolio & enterprise mindset to effectively evaluate and make trade-off decisions across therapeutic areas, ecosystems, region & nation in line with portfolio prioritization and One Pharma Strategy
- Proactively evaluates & initiates payer and provider contracting opportunities, ensures effective pull/push through of national (in collaboration with national teams) and regional payer decisions, and proactively addresses patient access barriers (clinical, access, reimbursement, financial, patient education) using FOAC principles, modeling, and insights
Organizational Impact: Actively advances the OnePharma Strategy through enterprise initiatives
- Represents the US Healthcare space and its customers in broad organizational work as SFPs, TA HED SPOCs, RBO leads,and other workstream leads (CELC, Transformative Advocacy; proactively participates and engages with an enterprise view and OnePharma mindset
- Influences outcomes and evolution through influential collaboration and engagement
- Proactively brings in customer insights and learnings to help shape and evolve company and TA strategies
Customer and Patient Impact:
- Builds relationships and works effectively in partnership with Squads (Field, Marketing, Access, Medical) and functional partners to maximize impact on customers and patients
- Proactively evaluates & capitalizes on opportunities to make a meaningful impact on health equity at the ecosystem level and beyond, aligning work to CMG HE Strategy
- Leads and holds team accountable for delivering an integrated customer experience, incorporating data insights (i.e. ICX metrics) to uncover opportunities to evolve that experience and hold team accountable
- Strong understanding of customer segments and portfolio priorities, effectively aligning strategies and resources to drive customer impact
- Ensures all ecosystem team members are competing at a high level on behalf of patients
- Partners effectively with field medical leadership to deliver integrated customer and patient impact
- Actively evolves with the marketplace and shapes the CE organization in alignment with CMG Outcomes
Health of Team and Ecosystem:
- Proactively shares best practices and seeks advice across ecosystems, squads and functional partners
- Coaches, holds self and team members accountable to standards and actively manages poor performance in partnership with P&C
- Leads regular and effective check-ins that encompass coaching, recognition and creation of development plans with the team. Supports ecosystem talent attraction/retention, in-role/career development, fostering trust and ensuring individuals feel valued, included and empowered to succeed.

Who You Are: Required Qualifications:
- You hold a required Bachelor's Degree
- Previous cross-functional industry therapeutic experience in commercial life sciences (pharma or biotechnology)
- Demonstrable evidence of achieving financial, quantitative and customer engagement metrics across different types of accounts, such as private payer, public payers and hospital systems
- Developing and implementing strategic plans across complex healthcare environments such as managed care, including contracting strategy, administration and pull-through
- Experience and success leading teams responsible for driving brand revenue growth
- Ability to lead complex cross-functional account teams and operating under ambiguity without a set playbook, including aligning teams
- Track record of successful partnerships with customers and organizations (both externally and with peers / across broader internal organization)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong business acumen and commercial insight developed through a combination of industry experience, MBA or similar postgraduate degree preferred
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location in South Dakota, Iowa, or Nebraska is $223,600 - $415,200. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below. This position requires significant driving of either a company provided or personal vehicle as well as prolonged periods of sitting, both of which are part of the essential duties and responsibilities of the role.
