As Baxter's Senior Director IT, Global Cybersecurity Operations you will lead multiple teams responsible for maintaining Baxter Cybersecurity Operations. You will drive defense strategies across incident management, insider threat, and cyber tools teams, to ensure 24x7 monitoring, incident response, and threat-resilience of our organization's identities, digital assets, infrastructure, products (device and applications), manufacturing plants and sensitive data.

You will work across multiple technologies and groups within Cybersecurity, IT, R&D, corporate and business functions and external partners. Your experience will reflect a blend of technical expertise, operations experience, leadership capabilities, executive presence, experience managing external partners and a track record of managing high-performing teams in a visible, fast-paced environment.

What You'll Be Doing:

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Direction 24X7 cybersecurity operations teams- Incident Response, Insider Threat and Tools Engineering teams- to continually improve processes, protocols, and systems for detecting, responding to, and mitigating cyber threats.

  • Align cyber strategy with Organizational needs, regulatory requirements, business objectives, risk management, and compliance.

  • Influence Cyber Architecture on the necessary defense strategies to fortify Baxter's cyber defenses.

  • Work with CISO to continually strengthen Cyber Operational model. Manage recruitment, retention, and training of cyber operations talent to ensure the organization's capabilities remain top-tier.

  • Build high-performing teams through professional development opportunities for every member of Cyber Operations.

  • Manage and engage with strategic partners for ongoing upkeep, maintenance and improvement of Baxter's cybersecurity capabilities and tools.

  • Manage and maintain Cyber- Operations budget, to minimal variances.

  • Cultivate a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across all teams.

Reporting & Metrics:

  • Establish and maintain cybersecurity metrics and KPIs to inform the efficacy and assurance of defense tactics and protections across Baxter enterprise and product ecosystems.

  • Partner with the CISO to regularly report on the status of cyber operations to Cyber oversight groups and key stakeholders.

Incident Response and Cyber crisis management

  • As the technical leader of the Cyber crisis management team, ensuring effective communications, timely and coordinated response during Enterprise, Product or third-party cyber incidents or breaches minimizing damage and recovery time.

  • Direct the continual improvement and execution of the organization's Incident Response strategies (e.g. post-incident reviews to identify lessons learned) and improve preparedness.

  • Oversee collaboration with Legal, Compliance, and PR teams to manage the organizational response to major security events. And maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.

Insider Threat (includes Data Exfiltration protection and Forensics):

  • Oversee the organization's data protection strategy to proactively secure against the exfiltration of our most sensitive data and maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).

  • Manage response to unauthorized data access and breaches. Direct the digital forensics team to collect, preserve, and analyze evidence related to security incidents and cybercrime.

  • Oversee appropriate partnerships with Human Resources, Ethics & Compliance functions on investigations and forensics. Ensure the proper handling of data and evidence to support internal investigations and legal proceedings when necessary.

Cyber Tools Engineering:

  • Ensure the organization has the necessary tools to monitor, detect, and respond to cybersecurity threats in real-time. Influence the necessary defense strategies that continually fortify Baxter's cyber defenses.

  • Ensure the efficacy, and assurance of Cybersecurity tools - both operated by Cybersecurity and/or Infrastructure teams.

  • Work closely with the Cyber Architecture to ensure the cybersecurity infrastructure is scalable, reliable, and adaptive to evolving threats. Harmonize and automate security tools, systems, and platforms for more cohesive and responsive capabilities.

Your Team:

Reporting to Baxter's Global CISO, as Senior Director IT, Cybersecurity Operations, you will lead a total team of 30 - 35 located in Mexico and India as well as 2 vendors. You will work collaboratively across Baxter's IT, R&D, corporate and business functions and external partners.

Your Location:

The role is located at our global corporate headquarters in the greater Chicago, IL area northern suburb of Deerfield. Relocation will be considered. Baxter is committed to supporting the needs for flexibility in the workplace. We do so through our flexible workplace policy which includes a required minimum number of days a week onsite. What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field is required.

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in cybersecurity or Infrastructure operations, with at least 5 years in leadership roles.

  • Experience managing Cyber or Infrastructure Operations teams, Incident (Cyber or Infrastructure) management, and root cause analysis necessary.

  • Strong understanding of cloud, network, and endpoints and the strategies needed to protect them.

  • Experience working with Security or Network Information and Event Management tools, Data and endpoint protection solutions is a plus.

  • Familiarity with data privacy laws and international data protection standards.

  • Experienced in regulatory compliance (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).

  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a history of managing large, diverse teams.

  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure situations, demonstrating excellent decision-making and crisis management capabilities.

  • Industry engagement and working groups is a plus.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $208,000 - $286,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and/or long-term incentive.
