Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Belvidere is a manufacturing facility of appx. 700 employees serving the Snacks Operating Unit and C&F Segment. We operate in a dynamic business environment, with a rich history of performance, innovation and renovation. Recently, we added Natural and Organic bars and Fruit by the Foot production into our portfolio after divesting Green Giant, which concluded over 120 years of vegetable growing and manufacturing. We are continuing to evolve to a more complex product portfolio to meet the changing needs of our consumers and customers (organic, non-GMO, new packing formats). The Belvidere plant is a very strategic and critical plant to both the NAR and C&F Segments and continues to be a magnet for investment and growth. This position reports directly to the Site HSE Manager.

Acts as a coach and advisor to the site, providing exceptional leadership and technical assistance in managing safety and environmental critical risks. Enables operational learning through application of human performance principles and is responsible for implementation of the site's Safety Management System. Provides support and technical assistance in the administration of and compliance with federal, state, local, and company HSE requirements.

This position could require travel of approximately 10%.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Engages differentially with the workforce to better understand and manage critical safety risks
  • Leads operational learning teams related to significant HSE incidents
  • Implements controls that protect human safety
  • Supports PSM/ RMP program on site in order to effectively control and manage hazardous chemicals and ensure compliance
  • Manage Safety Management Systems and programs on site and develop plans to ensure compliance
  • Leads compliance assurance efforts by facilitating frequent Safety self-assessments and tracks corrective action plans to completion
  • Member of the BV HSE Pillar supporting our various career systems including our Technician HSE System Owners
  • Actively participates in change management such as relocation, modification, equipment safety assessments and decommissioning of any affected facility, equipment, or process
  • Provides support to the site to address regulatory inspections and complaints
  • Monitors facility performance against S&E goals and objectives and communicates results to Central Safety Committee
  • Reports company-required safety, environmental and sustainability metrics at required frequencies
  • Collaborates with Site Learning and Development (L&D) and HSE Manager to develop content, training plans, and documentation/tracking as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, safety, industrial hygiene or demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable work experience
  • 2-4 years of site-level HSE leadership and program management experience
  • Solid interpersonal, coaching, and project management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; proficient in English
  • Proficient in computer software applications
  • Working knowledge of local HSE regulations
  • Experience in food and beverage manufacturing or related field

  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $68700.00 - $103200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
