Job Summary
Oversees the daily operations of the energy management and HVAC efforts on campus. Supervises EMS staff; initiates work procedures; inspects maintenance performed by outside contractors and technicians; initiates requisitions for supplies and equipment; coordinates utilities operations with the Central Energy Plant Superintendent; continuously reviews all systems to improve efficiency for energy conservation; and inspects mechanical systems under construction and oversees system start-up and commissioning. Handle all personnel issues related to the shop. Review maintenance contracts and track warranty items/building for new contracts.
Minimum Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; 5 years experience in the operation and maintenance of steam generating, power generating, refrigeration, and/or data acquisition equipment, including a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity. Must have and maintain a valid Texas Driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Preferred Education and Experience
EPA Universal certification
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise the installation, operation and maintenance of utility equipment.
  • Assign and create work orders for EMS staff using work management system.
  • Monitor campus building automation systems.
  • Coordinate and inspect work performed by contractors and EMS technicians.
  • Attend meetings, review mechanical blueprints, renew annual contracts, and track warranty parts.
  • Estimation and bidding of projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.
