Posting Summary
The School of Management and Labor Relations at Rutgers University seeks to hire an Assistant Professor of Professional Practice for a joint appointment with the Department of Human Resource Management and the Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing. The successful candidate will teach a range of courses (i.e., Equity Compensation & Employee Ownership, Corporate Governance, Democratic Workplaces). In addition, the candidate will have a record of applied research work and publishing in academic and non-academic outlets, obtaining grants, and leading research projects in the field of employee ownership and profit sharing. Rutgers' School of Management and Labor Relations ( SMLR) is one of the world's leading sources of expertise on Human Resource Management and the changing world of work. Our world-class researchers and expert practitioners provide a rich set of undergraduate, Master's, and doctoral degree courses, and an array of executive education offerings. The Institute for the Study of Employee Ownership and Profit Sharing conducts research on all forms of employee financial shares in companies and helps develop information for employees and business owners interested in considering becoming an ESOP or employee-owned company.
Description:
This is a non-tenure track faculty position on an annual contract with possible renewal contingent on the continuing need for the position, a positive formal evaluation, and availability of grant funding.
Some of the responsibilities of the Assistant Professor of Professional Practice include:
* Teaching four courses per year in our undergraduate and graduate online and in-person programs and other courses the department may assign.
* Designing and leading applied research projects in the field of employee ownership and profit sharing and related employee empowerment/governance structures.
* Designing and leading mixed-methods (qualitative and quantitative) social science research projects (especially, including case studies of companies) in this area of study
* Designing and leading grant applications and grant-funded projects in the field of employee ownership and profit sharing and related employee empowerment/governance structures.
* Working collaboratively with other researchers in large-scale projects both inside and outside of SMLR to help interested New Jersey businesses determine if transitioning to an ESOP may be a viable option for succession planning.
* Work on a series of outreach initiatives designed to increase awareness and access to information for employees and business owners interested in considering becoming an ESOP or employee-owned business.
* Preparing written reports, academic publications, technical reports, presentations, and external communications summarizing research methods, findings, and implications for applied research in these areas.
* Effectively communicating research methods and findings to both technical and non-technical audiences through written products and presentations.
* Being a liaison among multiple stakeholders in the field of employee ownership and profit sharing including academics, government agencies, employers, relevant non-profits and think tanks, and members of the general public.
* Working with Ph.D. students in this area of research.
* Mentoring and managing research assistants.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
1. PhD or Master's degree focusing on HRM (Area could include Business, Industrial-Organizational psychology, Organizational Behavior, other management degree) or the equivalent knowledge gained through extensive and related human resource management experience.
2. Evidence of teaching excellence at the undergraduate, graduate, or executive levels. Experience teaching and designing credit and non-credit courses in employee ownership preferred.
3. Strong sustained record of applied research work, publications, and grants in the field of employee ownership and profit sharing with evidence of significant impact at the state, regional, and national levels.
4. Ability to work well with others as a colleague, manager, and mentor.
