Job Summary

About the Position

We are seeking a strategic, forward-thinking leader to step into the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer role. This is a rare opportunity to join the Executive team of a well-capitalized community bank with over 170 years of stability and growth in the Hudson Valley. The SVP/CFO reports directly to the President and CEO of the Bank and will be critical in ensuring our continued success, overseeing financial strategy, risk management, with expertise in Asset Liability and Liquidity Management.

Salary Range: $250,000 - $300,000/yr (Total Compensation - Base + Incentive)

Responsibilities

Strategy, Vision and Leadership



  • Advising the President and CEO as well as other key members of the Senior Executive Team on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities and policy matters.
  • Attend and present at Board Committee meetings such as: Audit, Risk, and Strategic Planning as requested.
  • Effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at designated Board of Trusteeand committee meetings.
  • Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the President informed of all critical issues.
  • Represent the Bank externally, as necessary.



Team Development/Leadership



  • Oversee, direct, and organize the work of the Finance team.
  • Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement with a commitment to quality.
  • Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct performance reviews and administer salary adjustments.
  • Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach; monitor and evaluate results.



Operations



  • Plan, coordinate and execute the Bank's annual budget process.
  • Provide analytical support to the Bank's internal management team.
  • Analyze loan loss reserve and report adjustments to the Board of Trustees.
  • Prepare all financial reports.
  • Monitor the financial condition of the Bank and notify the Bank's President and CEO of any anticipated events that would affect the financial stability of the Bank.
  • Develops and implements the Bank's fiscal plans and policies.
  • Provides guidance regarding investment decisions.
  • Participate in the Vendor Management Process in accordance with the Bank's Policy.
  • Develop and establish operating policies consistent with the CEO's broad policies and objectives and ensure their successful implementation.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the CEO.



Qualifications and Experience



  • Business or Accounting degree mandatory. Master's in business administration is preferred.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years banking experience in a senior management role ideally with both external audit and in-house financial management experience.
  • Strong mentoring, coaching experience.
  • Extensive background in financial institution accounting and auditing, operations and policies and procedures.
  • High level analytical and communication skills.
  • Superior management skills, ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers.
  • A team leader who can positively and productively impact strategic and tactical finance and administration initiatives.
  • Supportive of organizational change, viewing it as positive and as an opportunity to improve.
  • Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills at both a senior management and board level
