The Position

The Data Scientist supports ECD Clinical study teams and management by utilizing Roche internal data and RWD providing forecasting, landscape analysis, advanced data analysis, and project management capabilities for effective data driven decision making. This role is responsible for processing, analyzing, generating actionable insights, and presenting data in innovative and consumable ways to support business questions and needs. The Opportunity:
Utilizes state-of-art methodologies to analyze complex datasets and interpret analysis of results. Develops and codes software programs, algorithms and automated processes for use at all levels of the Early Clinical Development unit (e.g., leadership, project team, study team). Deliver integrated insights and analytics, trade-off analyses, and risk assessment to enable optimization of patient recruitment strategies, country footprint, and clinical site selection for ongoing and planned clinical trials. Partner with relevant stakeholders to assess the health of the portfolio of clinical trials and identify opportunities to accelerate the delivery of studies and product launches. Communicate the effects that trial design elements, country and site selection, competitor activities and new engagement tactics will have on clinical trial recruitment & retention forecasts. Prepare presentations and participate in internal and functional meetings to discuss analytical methods, results, and recommendations. Take ownership of relevant data science projects, manage the implementation of the product development cycle, and ensure the success of the product. Where applicable, take high-level concepts and make them a reality through rapid application development. Actively collaborate with subject matter experts in cross-business units and cross-functional global workstreams to align and implement global strategies and tools when appropriate. Stay current with and adopt emergent relevant methodologies, tools, and applications to ensure fit-for-purpose and impactful approaches. utilizes state-of-art methodologies to analyze complex datasets and interpret analysis of results. Work with IT and data governance teams to clarify data needs. Collaborate with internal and external team members to acquire, aggregate and/or curate data and information.
Who You Are:
Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Public Health, or a related field; Graduate-level degree preferred. Proficiency in Python, R, SQL, JavaScript, or other JavaScript-based librariesand knowledge of snowflake/cloud, architecture, and data modeling concepts. 3+ years of experience in the following areas: Patient Insights, Investigator Insights, Forecasting, Competitive Intelligence, RWD, Statistics, Advanced Data Analytics, Information Visualization, and Data Science in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Strong proven experience engaging Clinical Operations stakeholders to understand and diagnose business problems, as well as using data driven methods to analyze and solve business situations. Record of effectively working in a matrix environment with team members usinginfluence without authority. Able to multi-task and re-prioritize work on short notice, ableto lean in and manage through change. Portfolio management experience is highly desirable. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and people skills. Proactive, resourceful, and self-accountable team player.
Relocation benefits are not available for this posting. Onsite presence, on our South San Francisco campus, is expected for at least 3 days a week.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, California is $122,300 - $227,100. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
