JOB SUMMARY: The Fraud Prevention Supervisor is responsible for the oversight of the Prevention team within the Fraud Department driving productivity, quality and overall performance. In this role, The Fraud Prevention Supervisor will support the Enterprise Fraud Manager with daily oversight and leadership of the departmental practices related to fraud concerns such as check, ACH, wire, account take over, and new account opening fraud. This position will provide support and feedback for Prevention staff to ensure all processes and procedures are executed with high standards and quality and are aligned in compliance with banking regulations. The Fraud Preventi0on Supervisor will support the Enterprise Fraud Manager by assuming a variety of management functions including tracking and reporting, providing expertise and guidance to other areas of the bank with respect to fraud and prevention related matters and work to enhance the control environment in these areas when applicable. This role is also responsible for mentoring, training and developing fraud prevention personnel, conducting one on one meetings with staff and managing the performance evaluation process Additional responsibilities include assisting with the development of policies and procedures, acting as a liaison with business partners, and maintaining regulatory and legislative compliance. The Fraud Prevention Supervisor will also maintain an active workload and will manage/coordinate complex projects and assist the team as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Daily oversight and leadership to the departmental practices related to the external and internal fraud detection, prevention, collection, and prosecution.
  • Assists in leading the day-to-day operations of the Fraud Prevention team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Works collaboratively with Management to develop strategic plans and implement objectives in support of defined strategy.
  • Ensure proper communication with team members for the success of timely implementation of business needs.
  • Train, provide subject matter expertise, mentor Fraud Department employees and related business unites on fraud related matters.
  • Maintain awareness of legal and regulatory compliance
  • Assist the Enterprise Fraud Manager with management functions including tracking and reporting fraud metrics.
  • Participate in root cause analysis discussions to identify opportunities to predict, prevent and mitigate risk within processes and performance.
  • Identify gaps in current systems, policies and strategies and take actions to mitigate emerging risks with guidance from management.
  • Recommend enhancements and process improvements based on assessment of systems and processes.
  • Assist in the development and execution of trending reports and key indicators to serve as early warning risk indicators for potentially fraudulent activity.
  • Conduct one on one meetings with staff and manage performance evaluations.
  • Share knowledge and best practices with staff for continued development.
  • Maintain appositive work environment through motivation and visibility to staff.
  • Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



  • 8+ years of investigative fraud experience related to the financial industry.
  • Bachelor's degree or related work experience required.
  • Management experience in financial crimes preferred, but not required.
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) preferred.
  • Depth and breadth of knowledge in banking products, services, systems and workflows, transaction processing and recordkeeping, and applicable regulations


  • Comprehensive knowledge of various fraud schemes including but not limited to: online fraud, check fraud, card fraud, deposit fraud, and employee fraud; understanding prevention and basic investigation methods for each
  • General knowledge of BSA/AML and OFAC laws and regulations
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Regulation E, Regulation CC, and Uniformed Commercial Code articles 3 and 4
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities.
  • Excellent analytical, judgement and research skills
  • Knowledge and experience with root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrates ability to proactively and independently identify, address and manage risk.
  • Team-oriented, great at problem solving, able to handle multiple priorities and excel in a dynamic and fast-moving environment.
  • Participates in process improvement idea generation.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Products

8 years: Fraud experience related to the financial industry (required)
