Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
Performs field support of the hatchery program, including maintenance of the longline system, installation of alternative grow out systems, and broodstock collection. Maintenance of field equipment, including grading screens, floating upwelling system, boat, power washers, tumbler and gator. Maintenance and construction of cages. Quarterly assessments of all cohorts which involves tumbling, counting, measuring and recording data on growth and survival. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High School and two years of directly related experience required to perform the assigned duties or equivalent combination of education and training and appropriate certifications.
A BS in Biology or related field and one year of experience in aquaculture. |
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience |
Ability to work and communicate effectively as part of a team working together to achieve safe efficient and productive operation of hatchery systems.
Ability to keep detailed and accurate accounts of daily operations.
Ability to exercise good judgement when encountering problems and the willingness to seek advice/assistance from supervisor or colleague. |
