Overview

The Director of Development is responsible for managing and securing philanthropic major and principal gifts of $100,000 or more. This position will be responsible for securing a minimum of $5 million toward the overall restricted gift goal of the Office of Development set annually. The Director of Development is an integral member of the team working to realize the fundraising goals of hospital fundraising campaigns. This position manages: a prospect portfolio and applies moves management to approximately 100 donors; works with the Senior Vice President (SVP) of the Office of Development on the visitation and events calendar for strategic prospect visits; supports and promotes the Elias C. Benedict Legacy Society; and assists in the implementation of the Concierge program. The position also requires strategic development and stewardship of relationships with donors and prospects at the principal gift level; function as part of the Greenwich Hospital Office of Development senior team in achieving identified priorities; and understanding and communicating the funding needs of the hospital to donors, volunteers, board members and prospective donors. Additionally, the Director of Development participates in the strategic planning for prospect engagement with colleagues across the Yale New Haven Health System/Yale School of Medicine (YNHHS/YSM) enterprise. The Director of Development will support the development of compelling principal gift opportunities for Greenwich Hospital and across the System and key Service Lines that will meaningfully impact patient care, research and education for YNHHS/YSM. Qualifications EDUCATION Bachelor's degree required, an MBA, MHA or equivalent advanced degree is strongly preferred. EXPERIENCE Ten or more years of development experience with a proven track record securing six, seven and eight figure gifts. SPECIAL SKILLS Demonstrated leadership, awareness & mastery of GH & YNHHS/YMS strategic goals & key functional sectors/service lines PHYSICAL DEMAND Availability to work nights and weekends and travel to events as needed.
