The School-Based Psychotherapist provides on-site mental health services within partner schools as part of Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers' initiative to support student wellbeing, academic success, and mental health equity. This role delivers evidence-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care to students while collaborating with school staff, families, and healthcare providers to promote comprehensive mental health support. Job Responsibilities: Provide psychotherapeutic services to individuals and families, including individual, group, and family therapy using evidence-based and developmentally appropriate approaches for diverse populations and tailored to school-aged youth. Conduct psychosocial assessments and diagnostic evaluations, suicide risk assessments, and crisis stabilization to develop comprehensive treatment plans. Develop and implement individualized SMART treatment plans, ongoing progress assessments, and aftercare planning. Implement trauma-informed interventions addressing anxiety, depression, behavioral concerns, trauma, and other mental health challenges. Utilize crisis intervention strategies to support students experiencing acute emotional distress. Create and lead therapeutic and social-emotional treatment groups during and after school. Maintain accurate, timely documentation of clinical activities, including treatment plans, session progress, and discharge summaries, in compliance with regulations and state standards. Collaborate with psychiatric providers for medication management, primary care providers, parents/caregivers, and school staff on mental health topics, classroom interventions, and trauma-informed practices. Supplemental services may include education of school staff on mental health topics, classroom interventions, and trauma-informed practices. Coordinate referrals and interventions, including safety planning for crises. Qualifications: Education: Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Psychology. Licensed or license-eligible (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or Psychologist) in Wisconsin. Supervision for licensure may be available for eligible candidates. Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of post-graduate clinical experience preferred; experience in community mental health, FQHC's. or school-based settings is highly desirable. Proficiency in evidence-based modalities (e.g. CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR, MI) Strong cultural competency and commitment to working with underserved and marginalized populations. Ability to work effectively in a school setting, navigating collaboration with teachers, administrators, and caregivers. Bilingual proficiency (Spanish/English) is highly preferred but not required.
