Job Summary:

The Sr. Accountant will be based at Bell and Howell's Durham office reporting directly to the Controller. With operations throughout the U.S. and Canada, this position will have overall responsibility for the U.S. business performing monthly reconciliations, daily cash report, monthly journal entries and analysis. Maintains accounting ledgers as well as financial planning and analysis for assigned area. This position will support technical accounting research and assist in the preparation of management reporting.

Will work closely with varying levels of finance staff in both the US and Canada.This person will also interact with Finance senior management, including CFO, his direct reports, other members of the finance team, and all levels of management within the Company.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Treasury functions including processes bank transactions, daily cash report, periodic cash forecasting, and account reconciliations.
  • Serve as the primary resource for accounting-related inquiries, assisting finance team members and other departments.
  • Review and verify financial data, including payroll and medical fringe postings, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with key finance activities such as forecasting, commission analysis, fixed asset management, and benefit cost accounting.
  • Work closely with Payroll to ensure accurate postings and assist in resolving any payroll-related issues (Payroll managed by HR).
  • Coordinating financial reporting processes, including monthly closing procedures.
  • Support compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and operational efficiencies.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.
  • Works closely with external auditors and outside tax team on an annual basis.

  • Excellent PC skills; data entry, spreadsheets, understanding of information databases.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with a minimum of 4+ years' accounting experience required.
  • Experience in corporate accounting close, reconciliation, and reporting processes preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also supporting and guiding team members.
