As a QEHS Coordinator at Ryerson, your primary responsibility is to provide overall leadership and expertise in quality, environment, health and safety. You will provide the safest work environment possible for all employees and achieve/maintain OSHA and EPA compliance. You will be working out of Columbus, OH, while supporting Indianapolis, IN.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Manages the implementation and auditing of the ISO 9000 family of Quality Management Systems in assigned location(s)
  • Oversees the job training programs in the assigned location(s) to ensure compliance to EHS, ISO, IT and Legal systems
  • Completes quality inspections on customer orders based on customer requirements, confirm effectiveness of implemented corrective actions (quality and environmental), and audit any sort/rework activities
  • Oversees measurement device and equipment calibration: maintain primary and master standards, performs in-house calibration to documented procedures with demonstrated competency, and maintains gage inventory
  • Completes PPAPs (Production Part Approval Process), First Article Inspections, and Certificate of Conformance(s) involving the reading of Part Drawings and documenting findings; following AIAG methodology and/or customer specifications
  • Implements corrective and preventive actions based on determined actions by assigned team to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction; utilizing quality toolbox for root cause analysis/corrective action
  • Champions Environmental, Health and Safety - joint role with facility operations manager/supervisor (audits, reporting accidents, facilitating training, etc)
  • Performs monthly Quality and EHS reporting to support management review and improvement initiatives
  • Conduct accident/incident investigations to identify the root causes of the incident anddevelop/propose corrective solutions to prevent reoccurrence of the incident and work with the appropriate personnel to implement solutions
  • Monitoring EHS programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal and state EHS regulations

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • 2 - 3 years of experience in a similar role with metals industry experience preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • ISO internal auditor preferred
  • Entry level Blueprint reading experience is an asset, intermediate preferred
  • Outstanding computer skills with the ability to apply knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of coordinate measuring machines (QC Laser, Roamer, etc.)
  • Travel up to 3-5 days a month, or as allocated based on market need
