About the Role

MWH is currently seeking a Safety Specialist to support critical water, wastewater, and advanced water treatment plant projects for both municipal and industrial clients, in Henderson, NV.

Essential Functions



  • Responsible for managing activities related to environmental and safety control.
  • Plans, implements, and coordinates programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses.
  • Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Develops accident prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of the organization.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety protocols and procedures.
  • Investigate accidents and near misses and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety and awareness throughout the organization.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and new regulations to proactively address health and safety issues.


Basic Qualifications



  • 4-year degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Safety & Health, Health Management or related field or equivalent combination of experience, skills, and training; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 12 years' construction and safety experience, preferably in the water/wastewater industry.
  • Ability to recognize hazardous situations and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal health & safety regulations, including OSHA and DOT.
  • In-depth knowledge of consensus standards, including NIOSH, ANSI, ASTM, and NFPA
  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • All required safety, quality, and compliance training.


  • Strong leadership and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Certified Health and Safety Professional (CHSP); or Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
