Position Overview
Part time Audio-Visual Installation Technician to join our team with the ability to travel up 100% in supporting the Department of Defense (DOD) and other Federal agencies throughout the country. The AV Installation Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and service of professional audio, video, control systems, professional lighting, and electronic equipment. Candidate may work alone or as part of a team providing survey/design, installation, deinstallation, and relocation support including, but not limited to, site preparation and installation and/or removal of Audio/Visual hardware and associated network hardware, cabling and wiring systems.
Responsibilities
Installation of AV systems and equipment including flat panel displays, video walls, control systems, and AV signal routing and processing equipment.
- Install, assemble, and repair AV systems according to systems documentation and industry standards and best-practices.
- Support the design, programming, commissioning and testing AV/VTC systems and subcomponents such as Crestron, AMX and Q-SYS.
- Maintain updated as-built documentation of systems installations.
- Ability to read and understand project drawings and schematics, engineering notes, and operation manuals.
- Perform break/fix actions in a variety of AV systems and equipment including flat panel displays, control systems, and AV signal routing and processing equipment.
- Installation, assembly and fabrication of cabling, equipment racks and cabinets
- Installation and fabrication of a variety of copper and fiber cable systems to support AV /VTC solutions
- Trouble shoot a variety of audiovisual systems for high visibility and mission critical systems.
- Manage equipment inventory during installations, ensuring all required components are accounted for and functional.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic test equipment.
- Perform post-installation support, including client handovers and basic operational training.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for maintenance, support purposes, & overall project success.
- All other duties as assigned.
Required Experience/Qualifications
- 2-5 years' experience Installing, assembling, and repairing AV systems according to systems documentation and industry standards and best-practices.
- 2-5 years' experience installing AV systems and equipment including flat panel displays, control systems, and AV signal routing and processing equipment.
- 2-5 years' troubleshooting experience with a variety of audiovisual systems for high visibility and mission critical systems.
- Must be able to read, understand and implement project drawings and schematics, engineering notes, and operation manuals.
- Must be familiarity with multimedia (VTC, video walls, Crestron), telecommunication transport, secure and non-secure voice communications
- Must possess the ability to fabricate, cable, and test equipment racks and cabinets.
- Must possess effective communication, interpersonal and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work with and without direct supervision.
- Must be detail-oriented, with the ability to multi-task, manage deadlines, and work within established timelines.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
Preferred experience with the programming, commissioning and testing AV/VTC components such as Crestron, AMX and Q-SYS
Special Requirements/Security Clearance
Current active DOD Secret Security Clearance
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift/carry equipment and or tools in excess of 100lbs+
- Able to perform installations and break/fix actions while on ladders or crawl spaces of various heights and depths.
- Ability and willingness to travel nationwide as required.
