Director of Business Operations & Commercial Management

Position Overview

The Director of Business Operations and Commercial Management will play a key role in driving our mission to become the world's leading Transportation service provider who get it right first time every time. This role will ensure our Service businesses are managing expenditure in line with the AOP, while supporting the wider growth agenda. Another key focus area will be to ensure Service is conducting responsible business in line with our values and our corporate standards.

The focus will be on Service Optimization and Risk mitigation to drive bottom line improvements to our business. This role is designed to facilitate Financial Growth, Consistency and Maturity of the Service organisation.

This role will require international travel. This role reports to the Chief Services Officer.

Key Responsibilities (included but not limited to the following)

Business Operations

  • Productivity improvements. Baselining our current operational performance and aligning with Service leaders to drive improvements across our teams globally. Ensure productivity improvements are tracked within the Value Creation Plan.
  • Risk management. Ownership of risk management process through the lifecycle, from new business development into live services (O&M). Working with Service leaders to drive risk mitigation plans across the business.
  • Own the Business planning cycles including using financial acumen to manage the AOP process, effectively manage P&L's, and build clear business cases while working alongside Service leaders, Finance partners and HR partners.
  • Implement standard and consistent Governance / Management Information systems, processes and reporting to effectively track, measure, and manage the Service business.

Commercial Management

  • Ownership and Management of the Strategic Partner ecosystem within Services. Working closely with corporate to ensure CTS partners are managed proactively and effectively.
  • Reduce overall expenditure, improve terms, and ensure we have a Partner ecosystem that aligns with our Target Operating Model and associated Service blueprints.
  • Create and implement consistent repeatable Operating and Engagement models to manage the lifecycle of new offerings and associated capabilities through to successful launch into "live service" utilizing cost models, commercial and delivery models, sound legal and commercial understanding, and business acumen across all facets of an offering or portfolio.
  • Responsible for effectively creating commercially attractive offerings and effective and sustainable delivery models which manage cost, drive profitability, and ensure growth.
  • Create strong partnerships with our Growth and Ventures organizations to manage the effective conversion of newly released Offerings and new business into revenue and profit through the value chain. Ensure Services leaders have accountability for delivering against the agreed cost base for all O&M contracts.
  • Management of portfolio creation, development, and leadership across all relevant Portfolio Categories.
  • Accountable for identifying relevant capability development requirements that sit outside of live Services but continue to be guided by the overall Portfolio Category strategy ensuring enhancements are geared at improving regional and global capabilities in the development of the Portfolio.

Education Experience and Desired Skillset

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or related field AND 8+ years' work experience in program management, process management, process improvement
  • 10+ years of professional experience in marketing, project management or business managementin the services industry or transportation industry highly desirable.
  • Must have strong business, finance, and commercial acumen along with the ability to operate across the business line and functions.
  • Exceptional planning and organizational skills, attention to details and a track record of driving outcomes to conclusion.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment and critical thinking skills to enable effective solutioning, working collaboratively to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Able to effectively identify and assess potential risks. Experienced in developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies. Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Can effectively manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously and programmatically with clearprioritization.
  • High level of integrity with a global mindset and commitment to diversity and inclusionwhile holding up the companies' values.
  • Ability to articulate strategy, motivate, and inspire others at all levels to pull in the same direction to achieve results.

Cubic Pay Range:

$215,569 - 270,000 + benefits.

The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
