Reliability Engineering Department

The Reliability Engineering Team is responsible for the overall health of critical systems across Vantage global facilities. For each of the major systems Electrical, Mechanical, and Controls, the Reliability Engineering team is responsible for ensuring success in the commissioning stages of new construction, evaluating and improving the reliability and performance of existing critical infrastructure, sustaining equipment operational availability through maintenance program design, providing ongoing technical support to the Site Operations Teams, as well as providing systems reliability and maintainability feedback to the Design Engineering teams for future design considerations.

Position Overview

The Manager of Electrical Reliability Services is a critical leadership role within the North American Reliability Engineering Department, responsible for overseeing the functional health, reliability, and maintainability of critical electrical systems across Vantage Data Centers' facilities. This includes managing a team of Electrical Reliability Engineers, optimizing maintenance programs, collaborating with Design Engineering and Construction teams, and providing advanced technical support to ensure operational excellence.

The ideal candidate will have extensive expertise in electrical systems, including system arrangements, equipment types, protection components, switchgear automation, onsite power generation, and critical power distribution. They should excel in risk management, reliability analysis, and team leadership.

Essential Job Functions

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Electrical Reliability Engineers to achieve departmental objectives.

  • Establish performance metrics and provide professional development opportunities for team members.

System Validation and Testing:

  • Oversee facility acceptance testing to confirm systems meet design intent and performance standards.

  • Review and approve commissioning plans, startup testing protocols, and factory witness testing outcomes.

Maintenance and Reliability:

  • Develop and implement maintenance programs that enhance equipment operability, efficiency, and lifecycle optimization.

  • Direct system upgrades to ensure reliability and combat obsolescence.

  • Analyze maintenance data, operational history, and trends to drive continuous improvement.

  • Provide advanced technical support during critical system failures.

Design and Construction Collaboration:

  • Partner with Design Engineering and Construction teams to ensure reliability and maintainability in new and modified installations.

  • Review equipment submittals for potential deficiencies and maintenance feasibility.

Risk Management and Analysis:

  • Develop risk management plans to address reliability-related risks.

  • Lead Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and implement corrective actions.

  • Conduct system availability, capacity, spare parts, and lifecycle cost analyses.

Support and Training:

  • Provide technical guidance and support to Facility Operations teams.

  • Ensure teams are proficient in system operation and maintenance techniques.

Performance and Asset Management:

  • Collaborate with Site Operations to analyze asset utilization, overall equipment efficiency, and remaining useful life.

  • Design and implement response procedures for potential critical system failures.

  • Conduct reliability, availability, and maintainability analyses to improve performance.

Additional Duties:

  • Handle additional duties as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field; equivalent field experience may be considered.

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in critical facility operations, maintenance, or reliability engineering.

  • 2+ years in a leadership or managerial role within a technical team.

Skills:

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.

  • Proficiency in reliability and maintenance data analysis.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel is expected to be 25%, with potential increases based on business needs.

Additional Details

  • Salary Range: $130,000 - $150,000 Base + Bonus (this range is based on Colorado market data and may vary in other locations)

  • This position is eligible for company benefits including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision coverage, life and AD&D, short and long-term disability coverage, paid time off, employee assistance, participation in a 401k program that includes company match, and many other additional voluntary benefits.

  • Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including your qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience and may fall outside of the range shown.
