Job Summary The DevOps Engineer ensures the streamlined delivery and operation of applications and services in alignment with Enrollment Management's technical and business objectives. This position implements and maintains continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, manages Boomi integrations, and develops Azure-based solutions. The DevOps Engineer works closely with development and operations teams to identify, recommend, and implement cost-effective technology solutions while maintaining security and compliance standards. This role also provides backup support for endpoint operations and end-user systems when needed. Essential Functions Integration and Process Management
- Architects, implements, and maintains mission-critical integration systems between multiple platforms including:
- Department of Education systems such as COD, CPS, NSLDS
- Student information systems such as PeopleSoft, Workday
- Customer relationship management platforms such as Salesforce, SLATE
- Document management and electronic signature systems such as SoftDocs, Perceptive Content, and DocuSign
- Financial aid processing systems such as TDClient, TDCM, EDconnect
- Develops and implements processes for:
- Real-time data synchronization
- Complex data transformation
- Error handling and monitoring
- Process optimization and performance tuning
- Creates and maintains comprehensive technical documentation for all integration processes.
- Assists staff with data transfer processes between external agencies and internal systems.
- Maintains working knowledge of financial aid processes and related software systems.
Development and Automation
- Creates and maintains automations using PowerShell, Boomi, and other scripting tools.
- Develops and maintains PeopleSoft queries and SQR programs for data extraction and reporting needs.
- Develops and improves tools to support continuous integration and delivery.
- Participates in code reviews and quality assurance processes to ensure operational continuity.
Security and Compliance
- Implements security controls within the CI/CD pipeline.
- Maintains compliance with university security policies and industry regulations.
- Participates in security assessments and vulnerability remediation.
- Documents and maintains security procedures for automated processes.
Operations Support
- Manages virtual infrastructure to ensure reliable system availability.
- Provides Tier 2 (L2) support for critical incidents and escalated issues.
- Assists Endpoint Operations Manager using endpoint management systems (Quest K1000/K2000, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft Defender).
- Develops automation tools for routine IT services and tasks.
- Maintains regular communication with stakeholders on system status.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)
- Master's degree in a related field plus two (2) years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field plus four (4) years of relevant experience;
- Associate's degree in a related field plus seven (7) years of relevant experience;
- High school diploma/GED plus nine (9) years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience with DevOps practices, including but not limited to CI/CD pipelines, version control systems, and/or branching strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and manage complex integration solutions across diverse systems and applications.
- Experience with integration methods and development tools for enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, including but not limited to PeopleSoft, SAP, and Oracle E-Business Suite, as well as proficiency in Structured Query Reporting (SQR) and other relevant programming languages.
- Expertise in SQL and database management (SQL Server, Oracle).
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Ability to work effectively in both independent and team environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications including Boomi or equivalent integration platform; Microsoft Azure (Azure Developer Associate, DevOps Engineer Expert).
- Proven experience with enterprise integration platforms, including but not limited to Boomi AtomSphere, MuleSoft, Apache Camel, and Microsoft Power Automate.
- Strong knowledge of cloud services and development tools, including but not limited to Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Advanced proficiency in scripting and automation tools, such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, AWS CLI, and Google Cloud SDK.
- Experience working in a higher education or nonprofit setting; previous work with Financial Aid systems and Department of Education system interfaces a plus.
- Working knowledge of endpoint management tools.
