The Embedded Life Safety Program Manager is responsible for the oversight and management of all life safety systems and measures across the medical campus. This includes, but is not limited to, fire sprinkler and suppression systems, fire alarm systems, emergency power systems, and other critical safety equipment. The Program Manager will ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and standards, including those of The Joint Commission. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, particularly fire alarm systems, and a valid Connecticut State Electrical License.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Life Safety System Management:
    • Oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and testing of all life safety systems, including:
      • Fire sprinkler and Fire Suppression systems
      • Repair and Maintenance of Fire alarm systems (including simplex programming)
      • Emergency lighting systems
      • Emergency communication systems
    • Conduct regular repairs and preventative maintenance on all life safety systems.
    • Coordinate and supervise necessary inspections and upgrades to life safety systems.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all inspections, tests, repairs, and maintenance activities.
    • Maintain and update emergency preparedness plans, including fire drills and evacuation procedures.
  • Code Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal codes, regulations, and standards, including those of The Joint Commission, NFPA, and OSHA.
  • Stay abreast of changes in relevant codes and regulations.
  • Project Management:
    • Manage life safety-related projects, including upgrades, renovations, and new construction.
    • Coordinate with contractors, architects, and engineers.
  • Record Keeping and Documentation:
    • Maintain comprehensive records of all life safety activities, including inspections, tests, repairs, and maintenance.
    • Prepare and submit required documentation and reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Emergency Response:
    • Respond to emergency situations as needed.
    • Provide training and education to staff on life safety systems.
  • Other Duties as Assigned:
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities or Safety Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Education:High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree in Fire Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:Minimum of 5 years of experience in the life safety industry.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Valid Connecticut State Electrical License required.
    • NICET certification preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems, including simplex programming.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Strong1problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Attention to detail and accuracy.
    • General knowledge of the XAAP program for inspection recording preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
