SUMMARY

Industrial Medical Assistants (IMA) of all levels provide medical care at the direction of RMI Global Solutions' Corporate Medical Director, and designees. In addition to duties involving medical care and rescue, Industrial Medical Assistants act in a support role to RMI clients while conducting themselves in the highest standard in the industry. IMA's help in maintaining quality, long-term relationships with RMI clients through the delivery of medical care and rescue in industrial and sometimes remote and austere environments in accordance with professional standards of care, state regulations and accreditation standards and RMI policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:



  • Provides advice and medical treatment for primary health care, general practice, and emergency situations as dictated by prevailing protocols and scope of practice.
  • Completes RMI and client reporting requirements as noted within each individual project and/or client.
  • Demonstrates extremely strong attention to detail regarding patient assessments as this position is acting as an independent and remote professional communicating via telephony with the supervising physicians.
  • Undertakes medical escort duties as required.
  • Maintains medical center facilities in accordance with RMI and prevailing standards.
  • Represents RMI in a professional manner at all times.
  • Maintains current professional certifications, as designated for assigned projects.
  • Other duties as required.


TYPICAL DUTIES INCLUDE:



  • Interviews patient about current problems, medications, and allergies and reviews electronic health record for pertinent previous and current information.
  • Communicates regularly via telephony and internet with physicians and Advanced Practitioners to determine a course of action for a given presentation.
  • Participates in patient treatment regimen, including administering medications (under the supervision of a physician via telemedicine consultation)
  • Establishes and documents patient treatment regimen in electronic health record under supervision of the remote physician and implements treatment.
  • May participate in occasional off-site travel in company vehicle to respond to requests for service for minor ailments and work-site injuries as requested by the client.
  • Performs routine immunizations, nebulizer treatments, and visual acuity testing, and administers and reads tests as appropriate and if permitted.
  • Performs other clinical taskings as directed after appropriate physician-led training (i.e., steri-strip wound covering).
  • Maintains adequate inventory of examination room supplies and prepares exam rooms at the beginning and end of day and between each patient contact.
  • Performs a variety of office responsibilities: answers phone and takes messages and performs triage within scope of practice in an accurate and timely manner.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:



  • Current certification/license as a state Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse (state dependent)
  • OR current certification/license as a state licensed Paramedic
  • Some positions may allow the utilization of different license/certification levels
  • 3 years' experience, or 4,160 hours, at the current license level that will be practiced in the field
  • Prior work experience in industrial settings with knowledge of OSHA regulation preferred, but not required.
  • Current BLS, CPR, with AED at the medical rescuer level
  • Current state license in respective discipline
