Security Customer Service Specialist Needed at BNY - Downtown Pittsburgh Full Time - $20.00 / Hour (Union Site) 7:00AM-3:00PM, 3:00PM-11:00PM, 11:00PM-7:00AM Shifts Available Up to 40 Hours per Week (Weekends Included in Schedule)

A customer service specialist is most often the first person the public or a customer will usually meet, offering one chance to make a professional impression of BNY and the service provider. The customer service specialist is expected to be neat, clean, well-groomed, polite, courteous, helpful, knowledgeable, alert and attentive always while on duty. The basic responsibilities of the customer service specialist are also to Deter, Detect, Observe and Report. Job Responsibilities/General Duties General Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- General Orders: Fulfill all responsibilities as in the Operational Procedures Manual. Provide a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors entering BNY through vigilant patrols, deterrence, detection, observation, monitoring of all applicable security/life safety systems and the reporting and documenting of all incidents
- Customer Service and Public Relations: Greet all persons entering the client's property, Provide accurate and knowledgeable information and/or assistance as required, Treat all persons encountered with the utmost respect and courtesy as a representative of BNY, Always make a special effort to help people when required
- Access Control: Prevent unauthorized or unlawful access to BNY property; consistently enforce all access control policies and procedures as related to all persons entering and exiting BNY. Verify, confirm and document all requests for entry that fall outside of normal policy and procedure
- Property Control: Verify and confirm that all items and equipment leave and enter the property in accordance with BNY Corporate Security operational procedures, report all conditions that fall outside of normal policy and procedure immediately to BNY Corporate Security, Prevent the unauthorized removal of equipment and/or items from BNY
- Patrol: Perform all assigned patrol responsibilities as directed per the Operational Procedures/Post Orders of BNY using assigned equipment such as flash light, two-way radio, tour watchman, note pad, pen, etc.
- Deter, Detect, Observe & Report. Identify and report, correct if possible, any safety hazards, security breaches, fire hazards, violations of policy and suspicious or criminal activity
- Emergency Response: Respond to all emergencies such as fire, medical, bomb threat, mechanical, electrical, elevator entrapment, criminal, severe weather, etc., utilizing all relevant training and operational procedure guidance. Remain calm and react professionally. Assist all public officials and clients in their efforts to address the emergency at hand. Thoroughly and accurately document the emergency on an Incident Report Form
- Documentation: Thoroughly and accurately complete all assigned documents such as Field Notes, Daily Log Journals, Incident Reports, Attendance Sheets, Computerized Log Journals and various other reports as assigned, Ensure that all documentation is accurate, legible and complete, Proof all documentation for mistakes prior to submission to supervisor. Complete and forward all documentation to all respective parties in a timely manner

Qualifications
- 18 years of age or older
- High School Graduate/GED Required
- Military, law enforcement and/or college education a plus
- Prior experience preferred
- Customer service oriented
- Continually pass site-specific verbal and written operational testing
- Proficient in basic PC operations
- Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office, esp. Word, Excel and Outlook and other required software and peripheral equipment
This position is responsible for the safety and security of the facilities they protect. Our Financial Center Officers allow us to accomplish our company's core purpose which is "to service, secure and care for the people and businesses in our communities." Financial Center Security Officers act as a visible deterrent to crime and client rule infractions; they detect and report suspicious, unsafe or criminal acts at or near their assigned posts which may be a threat to the property, clients, guests or employees at the site. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure the facility is provided with high quality security services to protect people and property.
- Maintains proficiency in the use of all assigned protective equipment, restraint devices and weapons.
- Report safety concern, security breaches and unusual circumstances both verbally and in writing.
- Preserves order and acts to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors and premises.
- Monitors closed circuit television systems and alarms; Reports safety concerns, security breaches and unusual circumstances both verbally and in writing.
- Maintains awareness and familiarity with the site-specific operations performance manual and post orders.
- Meets and continues to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing and permit requirements for Armed Security Officers and specific protective device and weapons qualifications.
- Build, improve, and maintain effective relationships with both client employees and guests.
- Answer questions and assist guests and employees; Answer phones or greet guests/ employees in a professional, welcoming manner.
- Patrols the facility on foot or in a vehicle.
- Could be required to work for multiple clients at multiple locations; covering special projects, call offs, vacations and open shifts.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use both hands, is frequently required to stand, sit, stoop, talk and hear (communicate verbally in person and via regular telephone equipment), and must be able to read computer screens, correspondence and reports in English.
- The employee must constantly walk, stand, reach with both hands and arms, and must be able to drive a vehicle. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. May be required to climb stairs on an intermittent basis at client sites.
- Constant use of eyes (correctable vision to normal level required) to observe, read, interact with public and co-workers, view security monitors; includes hand/eye coordination
- Work in various environments including adverse outdoor conditions such as cold, rain or heat
- Must be able to focus and multi-task in a busy environment, with the ability to successfully handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner. Includes being able to effectively manage multiple employees with diverse personalities and engage them to perform at optimum levels.
- Remain flexible to ever changing environments; adapt well to different situations.
- Must be able to clearly speak, read and write English.
