Position Description Position Title: Clinical Educator Date: March 2022 Reports To: Clinical Manager FLSA: Exempt Department: U.S. Sales-Clinical Education Grade: 14X Location: Home based office/field Job code:CE0120 Job Summary: Provide product and clinical support to customers and sales representatives for in-services, pre-sales, evaluations, follow-up visits, and/or troubleshooting. Assists Marketing Managers and System Solutions Specialists with the design of new products in identifying target markets and the needs of those markets. Essential Functions:
- Conducts in-servicing for the full line of products by identifying customer needs and setting the training schedule and agenda to accommodate those customer needs. These in-services provide customers with the clinical application of our product line in all departments of the hospital.
- Provides installation support by identifying customer workflow and settings in order to customize Mindray NA product line to customer-specific needs. Provides clinical support during the final implementation of patient monitoring systems as needed.
- Conducts follow-up visits and phone calls to maintain a constant and open relationship with the customer in order to promote the continued education and use of the Mindray NA product line. Acts as a liaison between the customer and other departments of Mindray NA such as Technical Support, Service, and Systems Solutions to find answers to customer-specific questions
- Assists sales in customer evaluations and pre-sale situations by presenting the clinical applications that correspond with the product features being presented in order to bridge the gap between the sales process and the clinical application.
- Provides troubleshooting to accounts by visiting the account and identifying the critical issues (whether they be education, product, hospital, or departmental issues) and works to find solutions to those issues. The solution may involve Systems Solutions, Technical Support, Service, or Hospital Personnel.
Decision-Making Authority:
- This position works independently in the field and makes decisions regarding the education needs of the customer and time and territory management decisions to meet those needs.
Position Specifications:
- Knowledge/Educational Requirements
- RN with a current license from an accredited nursing institution. BSN is desired; may have another nursing degree in combination with 5 or more years of nursing experience.
- 2-3 years of active nursing experience in a nursing specialty area directly using cardiac monitoring on the acute patient
- Knowledge of advanced cardiac arrhythmia, hemodynamic, Swan Ganz, and Cardiac Output Monitoring
- Experience in the education of other nurses, using equipment, either through formal staff development or preceptor programs strongly preferred
2. Skills and Abilities
- Strong verbal communication skills and presentation skills to provide training to the customer base
- Strong interpersonal skills to interface with many levels of marketing, sales, and engineering personnel at the divisional or corporate level as well as with all levels of hospital personnel including Nurse Managers, Directors of Nursing, Staff Nurses, and Purchasing Agents
- Technical capability to understand all products and a clinical understanding of the application of these products in numerous clinical settings
- Flexibility to last-minute changes in schedules and must demonstrate a good work ethic to provide adequate instruction on products in a timely fashion.
- Independent and self-motivated such that they can act without constant supervision
- Person must be able to determine the educational needs of diverse nursing units and specialties
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
3. Physical Demands/Work Environment
- Must be able to travel by car or by airplane nationally approximately 80% of the time or whatever is required to meet customer needs.
- Must be able to stand and speak in front of a group for periods of 2-5 hours, several times a day.
- Must be located within 40 miles of a major airport

Working Relationships: 1. Internal Contacts
- Interacts on a regular basis with Clinical Managers or designees regarding account scheduling and prioritization, conflicts in time management, and needs of the department, and receives direction in situations when conflicts arise.
- Interacts with Sales Representatives, Regional Managers, and Area Directors for the purpose of planning and communicating the results of customer and sales support.
- Interacts with the Clinical Manager as needed for the purpose of conflict resolution.
- Peer communication with Clinical Educators and Technical Support personnel on a regular basis to obtain information or provide input.
2. External Contacts
- Interacts on a regular basis with all levels of hospital personnel including clinical and administrative.
