POSITION SUMMARY:



  • The Tax Analyst reports to the Senior Manager, Accounting
  • Located in Lewisville, TX
  • Full-Time
  • Hybrid



As a Tax Analyst, you will play a pivotal role at TriMark reporting directly to the Senior Manager, Accounting. Your primary responsibility will be overseeing the day-to-day operations of the sales tax function, ensuring timely and accurate sales tax compliance. As a hands-on contributor, you will manage various aspects of sales tax, including audit defense, research and response to tax notices, journal entries, reconciliation, and process improvement initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales and Use Tax Compliance:



  • File a high volume of monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax returns.
  • Lead sales and use tax audit defense, serving as a point of contact.


Financial Reporting and Reconciliation:



  • Prepare monthly journal entries for transactions in the sales tax general ledger account.
  • Reconcile Sales Tax General ledger accounts monthly.


Exemption Management:



  • Set up Exempt Customers and validate exemption certificates.
  • Process Improvement:
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in company sales tax procedures.


Automation and Technology Integration:



  • Assist the Manager of Sales and Use Tax and the IT group to improve and efficiently utilize all feature of a recently implemented tax engine.


Cross-Divisional Support:



  • Perform multistate sales and use tax research to address issues at supporting division.


Nexus Monitoring and Registration:



  • Monitor economic nexus for TriMark and all related parent company divisions.
  • Register in new taxing jurisdictions when necessary.


Indirect Tax Compliance:



  • Assist with indirect tax compliance in specific division


Special Projects and Duties:



  • Work on special projects as assigned.
  • Perform any other duties needed to support the tax function.



COMPETENCIES:



  • Have a working knowledge of accounting ERP systems and be able to run and reconcile output.
  • Possess a working knowledge of state sales tax filing websites.
  • Experience with sales tax systems such as Avalara is a plus.
  • Understand accounting concepts and practices.
  • Be willing and able to learn new skills.



QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:



  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in sales tax functions, or equivalent Military or practical experience.
  • Experience working with and demonstrated knowledge of multi-state sales tax.
  • Familiarity with accounting ERP systems and state sales tax filing websites.
  • Experience with sales tax systems, especially Avalara, is advantageous.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance.

The range provided represents the national average pay range for this position and is considered to be a general guideline. Pay for this position will reflect the candidate's unique qualifications and may be higher or lower than the range provided based on employee geographic location. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other local, state, and federal law.

In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark's' benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc. Leadership positions may also qualify for participation in bonus programs commensurate with role and scope of responsibility.
