Summary of Job Duties:The Senior Reimbursement Analyst is under the general direction of the Director of Revenue Integrity and a strong subject-matter expert responsible for evaluating, examining, optimizing, and translating into business requirements UAMS Health's payor contracts, payer policies, federal and state reimbursement rules, and regulations for the revenue cycle. Candidate is expected to have a firm understanding of healthcare and payor operations, reimbursement strategies, and healthcare payer contracts and agreements. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Accounting, Information Services plus 5 years of accounting experience including health reimbursement specifically related to Medicare/Medicaid Reimbursement or high school diploma or equivalent plus 9 years of experience providing consultation, reporting, analysis, and/or dashboard development for revenue focused departments/service lines in a Healthcare provider setting or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
  • Proficient computer skills; MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook; Windows operating system and internet.
  • Experience and proven success in practices, procedures, and concepts of the healthcare revenue cycle and its component operations, including billing, collections, charge capture, contractual adjustments, third-party reimbursements, and cash management.
  • Proficiencies - Advanced knowledge of revenue cycle processes and hospital/professional billing to include CDM, UB04, Remittance Advices and 1500 claim form. Advanced knowledge of code data sets to include CPT, HCPCS, and ICD 10. Advanced knowledge of NCCI edits, and Medicare LCD/NCDs. Comprehensive understanding of reimbursement methodologies to include DRG, OPPS, professional and facility billing. Ability to review, analyze and interpret managed care contracts, billing guidelines, and state and federal reimbursement rules, and regulations.
  • Abilities: Due to its service focus, this position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, well-developed analytic and organizational skills, critical thinking and the ability to meet deadlines while influencing, but not directly managing the work of others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience providing consultation, reporting, analysis, and/or dashboard development for revenue focused departments/service lines in a Healthcare provider setting or an equivalent combination of education, skills, and experience.
  • One of the following: CPA, Coding Credential, Audit Credential
  • Understanding of CPT/HCPCS codes, payer regulations and payer reimbursement.
  • Data Visualization experience utilizing Power BI
  • Working knowledge of Epic HB Resolute and PB Resolute.
  • Working knowledge of Epic Slicer Dicer.

Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Provide sound, high level, financial contract language analysis to support the real-time decision-making needs of revenue cycle, and service line leadership.
  • Participate in ensuring that all claims processing and valuation systems are properly configured, maintained, and monitored constantly to ensure a high degree of compliance and accuracy with reimbursement terms and policies outlined in payer agreements. (for example, claim edits, charge router rules)
  • Utilizing strong subject matter expertise, translate UAMS Health's payer contracts, policies, federal and state reimbursement rules, and regulations into business/clinical requirements for the revenue cycle.
  • Translate payor contract reimbursement policies for validation of reimbursement accuracy.
  • Identify and prevent underpayments and help to implement processes and workflows that streamline and simplify claim reimbursement workflow processes.
  • Work with Centralized Hospital and Professional Billing leadership to ensure that claims processing and valuation edits are properly configured to ensure a high degree of compliance and accuracy with changing reimbursement terms, regulations and policies outlined in UAMS Health payor agreements.
  • Assist in analysis of existing service lines, claims, denials, and charge master as requested. Write effective summary level documentation for clear and concise communication of data analyzed.
  • Work closely with the CDM Team to ensure optimal reimbursement.
  • Evaluate new and emerging payment models, policies, and requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare government and non-government billing and coding requirements and regulations.
  • Provide new and emerging information with Revenue Cycle and Clinical Leaders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
