The role:

Reporting to the Research Leader, Research Scientists have responsibility for the ideation and formulation of innovative personal care technologies and products. Working independently and under technical direction/collaboration with a Senior Scientist and/or a Group Leader, you will develop multiple projects for regional and/or global application. You will oversee the hands-on and timely development of complex new technologies and/or new products, which includes prototype batch making and technical and clinical testing of multiple formulations in a laboratory setting. We ask that you be a curious, creative, and goal-oriented person with a passion for technical learning, facilitated by a well-organized, scientific work discipline.

What you will do:



  • Apply technical competence and knowledge base gained from past experiences to develop proprietary new technologies and products. Evaluate and improve current technologies and products to drive differentiation in performance and consumer value.
  • Design and conduct experiments to examine technologies and products, generating scientific insights into their performance and physical/chemical character. Research and develop evaluation techniques that can be used for the characterization of products and technologies. Arrange work plans to execute hands-on research in laboratory settings and within established time frames.
  • Design, conduct and analyze consumer research to translate consumer insights into innovative approaches from a technology, formulation and communication standpoint.
  • Create and maintain all of the necessary documentation in order to develop new technologies and/or commercialize new products (i.e. lab notebooks, specifications, technical test methods/data, etc). Support securing patents on proprietary discoveries through lab work and/or documentation.
  • Work with partners from other teams to transfer technologies into product development or products to scaleup and manufacturing. Represent their project(s) at cross-functional team meetings and to management, providing updates on R&D progress and insights and be involved in project decisions.


What you will need:



  • Bachelor of Science degree required (chemistry, biological sciences or chemical engineering); Masters (cosmetic chemistry, for example) and/or PhD degrees also desired.
  • 3+ years of formulation experience in consumer goods, preferably with personal care or household products, especially those in liquid form.
  • Knowledge of Basic Arithmetic, Algebra and Statistics theory and practice.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tools (Outlook, Word, Excel (can perform complex functions) , PowerPoint, etc.)
