Oracles Cloud Infrastructure team is building new Infrastructure-as-a-Service technologies that operate at high scale in a broadly distributed multi-tenant cloud environment. Our customers run their businesses on our cloud, and our mission is to provide them with best-in-class compute, storage, networking, database, security, and an ever-expanding set of foundational cloud-based services.

We are specifically looking for a hands-on, leader to build and lead a performance engineering team for Block Storage, Object Storage, File Storage and other storage services that are planned for the future. The successful candidate will integrate with the product management and engineering teams to drive short term performance optimizations as well as build a performance engineering center of excellence in the long term. The candidate will have 10+ years of experience building core storage infrastructure in addition to 5 plus years of experience building and leading a high-performance engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Drive performance engineering best practices across services including hardware and software testing as well as drive relevant changes through the organization.
  • Build and lead a world class performance engineering team.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to define performance requirements.
  • Develop the best practices and programs to periodically test and establish benchmarks for current services.
  • Periodically run performance benchmarks for competitive services
  • Collaborate with the field engineers and solutions architects to drive performance optimizations for key large customers.
  • As required test and validate third party software and services that fill key gaps and/or improve the customer experience.
  • Report and communicate findings periodically with executives.

Required Qualification

  • 10+ years experience with building core IaaS services
  • Demonstrated ability of building strong software engineering teams.
  • Proficiency in performance testing tools such as JMeter.
  • Strong understanding of storage software performance bottlenecks and methodologies to optimize.
  • A demonstrated ability to think broadly and strategically.
  • Self-driven problem solver; able to adapt and thrive in a dynamic, ambiguous, and customer-focused environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (oral and written) at different levels in the org, engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

US: Hiring Range in USD from: $192,000 to $321,600 per annum. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.

Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracles differing products, industries and lines of business.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

8. Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
