  • Estimated annual base pay: $184,000(minimum) - $230,000(midpoint) - $276,000(maximum)

Are you ready to make your mark? If you're an Engineering Director with electromechanical technology experience, we have an exciting opportunity for you! The Director of Engineering is responsible to build, lead and improve a large critical engineering organization which is responsible to design, develop, validate improve and/or support products, systems or applications. This person is relied upon to provide a high level of technical and organizational expertise in guiding design efforts, customer interactions, and other engineering related matters such as quality problem solving. They are also accountable for providing strategic direction, and management leadership for a key area of engineering.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Leading a team of engineering leaders and individual contributors delivering customer sponsored and internal research and development.
  • Identifying and developing key technologies for enabling strategic growth in electromechanical actuation and motion control on existing and future commercial and military aircraft and aerospace applications.
  • Rapidly advancing the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of electromagnetic and electromechanical components and sensors, mechanical output gearing and power transmission, sensors, and other related technologies
  • Expanding systems engineering and validation testing capabilities while creating valuable IP in strategic product areas.
  • Participating in strategic planning related to accountable products, processes and infrastructure required within the business group.
  • Organizing and coordinating various functions throughout the company to meet organizational objectives.
  • Providing support, strategic direction and technical proposals for systems, products or services.
  • Embodying the technical conscience of the company for the system/product area of accountability. This includes ownership of quality and adherence to our development processes.
  • Providing the leadership, training and mentoring required for engineering staff career development.
  • Managing capitol and budget.

What We Are Looking For

  • US - Technical Degree 4-year Engineering/Science degree required with Master's degree or PhD preferred.
  • 10+ years of increasing level of responsibility within a product development engineering organization required.
  • 5+ years experience of leading a comprehensive engineering organization required.
  • Ability to manage a large-scale organization through excellent people, time management, and project management skills.
  • Technical/market knowledge of aerospace business segment, product knowledge, and customer's end products for the market served.
  • Highly refined leadership and interpersonal skills: skilled at using facilitative leadership approach.
  • Able to communicate and present complex ideas to a variety of internal and external audiences.
  • Strategic vision of technology and strong understanding of advanced analytical tools.
  • Strong financial management skills (profit and loss, product cost structure, budgeting).
  • Breadth of technical knowledge desired (including Physics, Mechanical, Electromechanical).
  • Significant product expertise and organizational knowledge.
  • Demonstrate organizational savvy (interpersonal/relational) and facilitative leadership skills to align with and influence key players throughout the organization.
  • Demonstrates expertise and commitment to Design for Six Sigma practices, lean product development and waste elimination.
  • Capable of coaching, mentoring and motivating individuals to perform beyond their comfort zone, and can help others do the same.
