GENERAL SUMMARY

The Documentation, Closing & Funding Department is responsible for preparing the Promissory Note, Business Loan Agreement, and other loan documentation in LaserPro or reviewing attorney drawn loan documents, drafting Lender's Instructions, and performing necessary pre-closing validation for closing and funding. The department also perfects collateral and ensures that trailing documents are recorded, received and filed or uploaded into Vision Content for record retention.

DIRECT REPORTS

4-6 direct reports from Loan Assistant to Loan Administration Officer level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Review and document all standard and complex commercial loans (i.e. Cross Collateralized, Asset Based, Construction complex, International Trade Finance complex).
  • Provide expertise and guidance to staff regarding Loan Documentation, Closing conditions and Funding requirements.
  • Establish processing standards and controls as required. Provide monitoring, guidance and training to staff regarding processing standards and controls.
  • Review complex attorney prepared loan documents prior to borrower signing in accordance with Credit Approval. Coordinate and work with Cathay legal counsel and outside attorney for any change or addition to loan documents.
  • Evaluate and implement process improvement programs.
  • Participate in process automation projects involving other Bank departments or processing units.
  • Validate that the receipt of the loan and borrower supporting documentation and request are in compliance with loan committee approval conditions, Bank policies and procedures, and Federal, State and other regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate and resolve any supporting documentation issues with Lending Unit and Cathay legal counsel or attorney.
  • Work with the Lending Unit to address comments or frequent issues with submitted/required documentation.
  • Create LaserPro documentation based upon loan CCR conditions and in compliance with loan committee approval conditions, Bank policies and procedures, and Federal, State and other regulatory requirements.
  • If applicable, create escrow closing instruction and pre-closing conditions and any other conditions required for Lender/Borrower information.
  • Receive signed loan documents and perform closing and funding activities including wire request, account funding, remit funds to pay off other lender, order tax contracts, UCC filing, set up and maintain tickler and monitoring databases (such as Stucky and Trade Innovation etc.)
  • Review and approve escrow and recording instructions and revise when necessary.
  • Review loan exceptions on loans that are processed by less experienced staff to ensure they are fulfilled before authorizing the funding of the loans and collateral to protect the Bank's lien position. (UCC filing/verification, Title policy reviewing etc.)
  • Act as the database administrator for LaserPro.
  • Respond to more complex internal and external inquiries in a timely and satisfactory manner (i.e. Lending Units, Loan Servicing and legal counsel).
  • In the Manager's absence, we will oversee transactions of clients whose financials do not meet all Bank requirements. Obtain approval from the appropriate senior manager.
  • Coach and develop staff. Address performance issues. Evaluate, interview and hire staff as required.


QUALIFICATIONS

Education: College graduate with a major in accounting or business preferred.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of banking experience in loan documentation. Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience. Minimum 2 years of experience with LaserPro.
Skills/Ability: Detail-oriented and accurate; ability to make sound recommendations to improve workflow; excellent communication skills; PC proficient; thorough knowledge and understanding of commercial loans and international lines of credit.

OTHER DETAILS

$110K - $115K / year
Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
