Our client is one of the largest Energy providers in the U.S (Mainly East Coast and Mid Atlantic) and as a whole they are consistently upgrading/expanding their utility network across all OPCO's tied to various initiatives/government regulations not limited to AMI (Advanced Meter Infrastructure), Grid Modernization, Clean Energy, etc. In order to keep up with pace and demand of these builds, The client leverages an ecosystem of Construction/Engineer vendors and needs to ensure they are providing oversight and QC efforts to make sure work is up to BGE standards and ultimately protect the networks integrity/safety. This is also an effort to hold the Vendors accountable and raise awareness around their metrics on various scorecards. With increased builds, the Quality and Standards department of BGE is taking on more business units such as Electrical Distribution, Substations, Gas Transmission, and Fiber (Each QC resource is allocated based on their specialty). The QC inspector will work on directly with a lead everyday to identify plan and routes of QC (The lead is performing more of the communication with the Construction Vendor but QC inspector also needs to be able to do this). They will then go to various sites and perform Quality Control visual inspections of both Aerial and Underground builds. The Aerial will all be post construction, the underground will be during. They will use Proprietary BGE software called QCI which gives them checklist to evaluate on each job, assess whether the specific scope has passed or failed the various check list, take various photos of work completed, document work and communicate across the various parties involved. Don't just capture only deviations, also capture any work that is structured correctly and associate that to performance metrics. A large portion of this role will be in the field, with some office and home (Very light and situational) documentation. A Quality Control (QC) Inspector is a high visibility position; therefore, the inspector must always present themselves in a professional manner, with honesty and integrity. A QC Inspector must possess good interpersonal skills and willingness to learn. A QC Inspector is an individual who observes, monitors, and documents the execution of construction work performed in the field by utility and contractors crews. A QC Inspector primarily performs quality inspections on work currently being performed or work that has been recently completed, utilizing established checklists. A QC Inspector will also perform and document field safety audits, utilizing the utility Safety Website. - Candidates for the Overhead QC Inspector positions will have to successfully complete and/or demonstrate knowledge of: utility QC Inspector Qualification Training, Proficiency using the utility Standards (C-Specs), Proficiency using utility maps and locating equipment in the field, Knowledge of utility work practices and procedures, Knowledge of the utility Safety Rule Book and other underground safety rules. Contractor candidates holding current industry underground certifications for performing overhead activities will be evaluated and portions of the above requirements may be waived. Specific Duties and Responsibilities - A QC Inspector's primary duties are (but are not limited to:) Spend 95+% of their time in the field performing QC inspections, Inspection of existing utility facilities such as URD cables, splices, terminations, transformers, and other facilities as required, Observe the construction of URD splices and terminations while being constructed, Document identified deviations in QCI in a timely manner, Conduct and document Safety Audits as required, Attend weekly staff meetings. Must have 3 - 5 years of QC inspection experience in a utility setting. *Skills* Osp, Construction, utility construction, design review, aerial, underground utilities, underground construction, Construction management, inspection report, gas transmission, Telecom, Design *Top Skills Details* Osp,Construction,utility construction,design review,aerial,underground utilities,underground construction,Construction management,inspection report,gas transmission *Additional Skills & Qualifications* Inspector will report to the office on Tuesday at 7:30am (Spring Gardens, Race Street Baltimore), review the days schedule of inspections then travel to the job sites to review the quality of the contractor's construction. Monday - Friday, there will be a morning call everyday at 7:30am then they will follow the same pattern as previous. 5 days a week, 8hrs a day Gas construction experience on BGE systems is a requirement. Familiarity with BGE OQ's and Redbook. Ability to use supplied MDT and computer applications. Quality Inspector overseeing Electric Distribution OH and UG construction a.Quality captures to ensure construction work is performed to BGE and Regulatory standards and processes. Also documenting and measuring contractor construction performance and metrics b.Quality Department is currently 6 internal employees, and 5 staff aug employees. Team will be expanding through 2024 No remote availability, inspector to be on site every day overseeing crews. Limited options to work from home possibly 1 day a week if weather is an issue or backlog of information needs to be input into QCI software d.Microsoft Outlook, AS8 (preferrable), Microsoft Teams e.For the Electric Distribution position - Experience in distribution construction or quality oversight. For the Gas position - Experience in gas construction or quality oversight f.Verbal communication skills, ability to deescalate situations Resources will be driving their own vehicles but will receive mileage reimbursement. *Experience Level* Intermediate Level *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $45.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
