Position Summary:

Accounting Analyst II provides accounting, financial analysis and reporting support for the Controller's department. The analyst will work closely with teammates and managers on various accounting activities including monthly journal entry preparation, account reconciliation and analysis, and balance sheet and income statement variance analysis. Analyze and research ad-hoc requests, develop reporting, and effectively prepare presentations for management review and decision-making. This role continues their career progression in solving more complex problems, in financial areas of specialization, with moderate guidance and direction. Employees are building their knowledge of the organization, processes and customers. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence. The ideal candidate will possess attributes for accuracy, process improvement, and will be detail oriented.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly general ledger closing for assigned projects/financings and accounting processes.

  • Perform cash analysis for certain payments from assigned projects.

  • Complete account reconciliations for assigned solar and wind operating projects, as well as financings.

  • Maintain good working knowledge of accounting policies and impacts as required

  • Analyze financial information and recognize significant variances, trends and irregularities; understand causes/drivers, and summarize concisely to management

  • Interact and support site operating personnel, corporate personnel, external auditors, vendors and consultants as required

  • Assist in the preparation for the annual budgets

  • Support the growth of the business, development of new accounting systems, controls, and processes.

  • Become knowledgeable of assigned projects/portfolios by reviewing/understanding financing and partnership agreements.

  • Complete ad hoc requests for internal and external parties or special projects, as assigned.

Basic/Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related discipline

  • Two (2) plus years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degree

Desired Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or working toward achieving their CPA

  • Four (4) plus years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field

  • Public accounting experience (Big Four/large regional)

  • Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures

  • Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Power BI, and Power Point

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills

  • Proven problem solving and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and foster good relationships with teammates and business partners

Working Conditions:

This role is intended to be located at the Deriva Headquarters office in Charlotte, NC. Strategic locations in certain regions may also be considered for more experienced candidates. The office position is hybrid.
