DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Victim Assistance Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting and advocating for victims of crime. You will not only provide emotional support and guidance throughout the criminal process, but also help victims understand their rights and navigate the legal system. The Victim Assistance Coordinator also assists crime victims with preparing and presenting comments before the Pennsylvania Parole Board and the Board of Pardons, and works to connect victims with various support services such as counseling and social services. Overall, you will be a crucial advocate for victims, ensuring they have a voice and are supported throughout their journey towards justice.

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days a week upon the successful completion of a 6-month training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of professional social service, counseling, or crisis intervention experience involving crime victim services, one of which must include direct services to crime victims, and a bachelor's degree in sociology, counseling, psychology, or a related area; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes two years of professional social service, counseling, or crisis intervention experience involving crime victim services, one of which must include direct services to crime victims.
Additional Requirements:
- You must be willing and able to work in Dauphin County.
- You must have two (2) or more years of social service, counseling, or crisis intervention experience.
- You must have one (1) or more years of experience providing direct service to crime victims.
- You must have completed at least eight (8) hours of training in victim's related service delivery.
- You must have experience dealing with victims in crisis situations.
- You must have completed at least eight (8) hours of training in crisis intervention.
- You must have experience working in the criminal or juvenile justice system.
- You must have telephone hotline experience.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirement:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
