DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As the Chief Psychiatric Officer, you will have a crucial role that holds responsibility for providing clinical oversight for the statewide behavioral health system. You will also offer clinical support to the Commonwealth operated psychiatric hospital system and the South Mountain Restoration Center, ensuring that consumers receive high-quality care and treatment for their mental health needs. This position requires a highly trained and experienced professional who can make important decisions and provide guidance for the state's psychiatric services.

- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. The work schedule is negotiable based on operational need.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg, or a regional state office as approved by your supervisor. You may be required to report to the Harrisburg office to attend meetings, as determined by your supervisor.
- The worksite location will be determined at the time of hire based on the selected candidate's home location.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Four years of experience in the practice of psychiatry, and Board Certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of an active unrestricted license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of Medicine or the State Board of Osteopathic Medicine.
- You must obtain an active DEA registration number to prescribe controlled substances from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as a condition of hire.
Additional Requirement:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Preferred Qualification (not required):
- Five years of supervisory and managerial experience.
