DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Waterways Conservation Officer Trainee, you will participate in a year of classroom and field training. You will reside at various training sites while studying law enforcement principles and practices, fish and boat laws, watercraft safety, environmental protection, and other related content.

Trainees who successfully complete the program will be promoted to a Waterways Conservation Officer with an increase in salary. Please note that this may require relocation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40 hour work week.
  • Shifts vary depending on operational requirements and include weekends and holidays.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent certification; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:
  • All positions require possession of an active PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
  • All employees must be at least 21 years of age.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires applicants to complete supplemental application questions regarding job-related requirements.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination, drug screening, psychological screening, and physical readiness tests.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  1. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.

Test Subject Areas: Reading Comprehension (15 questions); Numerical Reasoning (15 questions); Written Communication (20 questions); Effective Working Relationships (20 questions); Judgment and Problem Solving (20 questions)

There are 90 total questions.

You must take the computerized multiple choice exam (3 hour maximum) no later than March 5, 2025.
