Overview

Summary:
In collaboration with the Department director, plan and direct the operations of the Security division to foster and ensure a safe, secure workplace. Maintain working relationships with Security division staff, employees and administration to provide effective communication related to security. . In addition the Manager may be asked to oversee peripheral employees who work in collaboration and corporation with the Security Team(s).

High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) plus specialized training. Eight years documented Healthcare Security or other related Security experience with three years documented supervisor experience, preferably in healthcare

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:
*In collaboration with the Director, oversees the daily operation of the PHS Security division operations.

*Oversees and participates in the selection and orientation / training of new staff members.

*Develops performance standards, performs personnel performance evaluations, and recommends personnel actions with the collaboration of Human Resources.

*Reviews security data, and designs security division staff work schedule to provide optimal security coverage.

*Assures that all required and optional training and educational requirements are fulfilled and met by all Security division staff.

*Monitors (through direct supervision) and assures that all supplies and equipment is maintained at established par levels.

*Directs and monitors security supervisor activities related to officer performance, activity logs and equipment control/maintenance.

*Monitors, through security supervisors, equipment readiness checklist of all Security division equipment, including daily patrol vehicles and bicycles.

*Coordinates emergency communication capabilities, including but not limited to all exterior communications devices.

*Assures that PHS Security division is represented on all construction / renovation committees; attends all meetings required.

*Provides on call coverage for the division during and outside of normal business hours as part of the rotational call schedule and for Drug Diversion response.

*Responds to emergency or disaster situations as required.

*Maintains awareness of JCAHO, CMS, OSHA, and other governmental regulatory guidelines; assuring compliance.

*Coordinates and collaborates with the Department director in the provision of monthly / annual reports related to security incidents.

*Serves as an operational leader of the PHS Hazardous Material / Decontamination team.

*Assists with Safety Division and Infection Control Division tasks as required.

*Responds to and provides technical assistance to PHS regional facilities related to security and workplace violence prevention as required.

*In collaboration with the Department director evaluates and monitors the performance of the PHS Security Program.

*Enforces and interprets organizational policies and procedures.

*Attends educational forums for healthcare Security as required.

*In conjunction with the Department director develops and recommends department operating budget and ensure that budget targets are met.

*Serves as a resource to the entire organization in the area of Security and Safety.

*Supports organizational visions, values, and strategies.
