Job Summary

Supervises GI technician staff in the endoscopy department. This insludes both patient care and reprocessing technicians. Receives predetermined work assignments that are subject to a moderate level of control and review.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $67,000 - $143,800 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

UCSF endoscopy provides state-of-the art endoscopy care in 4 separate units to around 15,000 patients annually in three hospital-based centers and also provides system-wide high-level disinfection services for 40,000 devices annually in four reprocessing centers. Rapid expansion of endoscopy services in the near future is anticipated.

Required Qualifications


  • 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience
  • Active American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Skills to supervise an administrative and / or para-technical team and to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong knowledge of patient care support activities, systems, external regulations and internal policies.
  • Working knowledge of human resources management policies, with the ability to train, monitor, evaluate, and document human resources matters and employee performance. Provides input to decision-makers on human resources matters.
  • Detail oriented, with the ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills to quickly analyze problems, determine appropriate level of intervention, and apply effective solutions.
  • Solid interpersonal skills for effective information exchange and problem solving with all levels of management and staff, consultants and outside agencies.
  • Skilled in written and verbal communications, with the ability to convey complex clinical and technical information in a clear and concise manner, and to produce a variety of reports and analyses.
  • Knowledge of business software and specialized applications and data management systems used in nursing units or departments.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Professional certification related to role

License/Certification


  • Active American Heart Association BLS certification
