THE POSITION

The Department of Labor and Industry is searching for a Clerical Assistant 2 to support the State Workers Insurance Fund Underwriting Division. This position provides clerical and office support primarily within the Loss Control Unit and Underwriting Department to ensure specific operations are conducted efficiently and effectively.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The employee in this position is under the direct supervision of the Administrative Officer and will be responsible for the following duties. Typing of correspondence for the Loss Control Unit and Underwriting Department and for sending/receiving Loss Control documents generated through the SWIF operating system along with any pertinent attachments such as loss runs to policyholders, agents, vendors as is appropriate. You will process received vendor survey/training reports pursuant to Loss Control manager's review and finalization by sending appropriate "Thank You" letter, and, if needed, recommendations and attachments to policyholder and broker (if listed) the same day OIT delivers the cover letters. Receives and handles requests from State Workers' Insurance Fund (SWIF) employees, insureds, and brokers for loss runs for current and previous insureds. After receiving the requests, employee distributes them to insured or brokers/agents and SWIF management (if applicable).

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Work hours are 8:00am to 4:00pm, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Scranton.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • Possess solid written and verbal communication skills.
