Schedule: 40 Hours, Evenings, Full Time, Benefit Eligible

Summary:

To assist the nursing staff in the care of the surgical patient by performing the duties of cleaning rooms according to documented standards, maintaining the cleanliness of the department, turning over rooms in a timely manner, transportation, positioning, stocking, ordering, obtaining blood products, and any other additional care necessary to promote a safe surgical environment for our patients.

Responsibilities:


  • Perform housekeeping duties including wiping down OR and/or anesthesia equipment, mopping floors, replacing trash and linen liners, etc., in preparation for next OR case within established timeframe.
  • Have knowledge to be able to discern equipment and supplies throughout surgical specialties.
  • Follow directions in the proper placement for room setup, including making OR bed/table and holding of extremities for patient surgical skin preparation.
  • Follow proper cleaning and disinfecting procedures in all assigned areas.
  • Transport patients between the OR, Holding, PACU, and patient units.
  • Assist in lifting and/or transferring patients from stretcher/bed to OR table and vice versa.
  • Assist clinical staff in positioning patients and other patient care as directed, including hold limbs for surgical preparation and monitor peripheral lines.
  • Transport surgical specimens and blood products using proper handling procedures.

Required Knowledge and Skills:



  • Education: High school diploma or its equivalent

  • Experience: Previous housekeeping, transportation, CNA, or Operating Room experience
  • Must be organized and have good follow through.
  • Knowledge of Operating Room practices.
