Responsibilities

Mental Health Technician / Patient Tech

Turning Point Care Center has an opening for a PRN Mental Health Tech (MHT). MHTs play a vital role in providing excellent care for our patients and are a member of the interdisciplinary team who assists in total client care through implementation of appropriate therapeutic approaches.

  • Provide direct patient care within a multidiscipline team approach.
  • Maintains a safe, therapeutic environment.
  • Maintain accurate and complete data and records.
  • Intervenes with suicidal gestures, inappropriate behaviors, elopements, etc., using proper CPI technique.
  • Therapeutically communicate with patients. Assists in developing appropriate boundaries and helps to develop social skills.
  • Directs/redirects behaviors, demonstrating appropriate behavioral consequences. Responds appropriately to impulsivity issues as they relate to age specific criteria.
  • Recognize and communicate the physical and psychological status of the patients under their care.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Please let us know your shift availability at the interview: Days (5:30am to 6:00pm), Nights (5:30pm to 6:00am), or partial nights (5:30pm to 12:00am). This position qualifies for shift differential pay for hours worked between 3:00pm to 7:00am.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have:

  • One (1) year experience in a patient related field, required.
  • One (1) year experience with psychiatric, trauma, or substance abuse patients, preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Further training/education in behavioral health and substance abuse treatment is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate therapeutically and age appropriately.
  • Current Georgia Driver's License with:
    • No more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years
    • Not having multiple violations for driving without insurance
    • No more than 2 at fault accidents on record in the past 3 years
    • No convictions for DUI or DWI within the past 7 years
    • No convictions for serious infractions such as reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, or fleeing a police officer
    • No convictions for vehicular homicide manslaughter
