As a Sr. Manager, Sales Engineering you will oversee associates who are responsible for providing technical support to the US Surgical sales team, ensuring that products and services meet customer requirements. This role combines leadership, technical knowledge, and sales acumen to ensure the success of the sales team and the satisfaction of clients. This leader will collaborate closely with sales, marketing, product development, and other support teams to achieve business objectives. In this role, a typical day will include: Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, mentor, and manage SSE team, ensuring they are equipped to effectively support the customer engagement process.
- Provide ongoing coaching, training, and professional development to enhance team performance and product knowledge.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set individual goals, and track progress against sales and technical targets.
Sales Support:
- Collaborate with the sales leadership to identify trends in customer needs and ensure that product solutions align with those requirements.
- As needed, lead technical sales presentations, demos, and product demonstrations for potential clients.
- Assist in the development of proposals, including the technical aspects and solution configuration.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Work with senior sales management to define sales strategies, goals, and objectives that support overall company growth.
- Participate in the development and execution of sales campaigns and promotional initiatives.
- Ensure that Digital Support teams contribute to key account strategies and help resolve complex technical issues.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with product management and development teams to stay updated on product features and enhancements.
- Provide feedback from the field to influence product improvements and customer-facing materials.
- Work with marketing to ensure effective communication of technical capabilities and value propositions.
Process Improvement:
- Identify areas for continuous improvement to drive efficiency and drive overall customer satisfaction.
- Streamline the pre-sales and technical support processes to reduce the sales cycle and improve win rates Collaborate closely with architects in the surgical team and other engineering teams, product team, scrum masters, and cross-functional teams to develop a robust backend for the digital platform.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
- Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school+15 yrs; Assoc.+11 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+3 yrs)
- 7 Years of Relevant Experience in a Sales Engineering or Technical Sales role
- The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a cross-functional organizational structure.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to effectively translate complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, etc.) and sales enablement tool.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proven experience in managing and mentoring technical teams (preferred)
- Strong background in sales support, pre-sales engineering, or technical consulting
- Working knowledge of software-as-a-service (SaaS) and cloud-based technologies.
- Advanced certifications or specialized training in medical technology and integration formats (ex: DICOM, HL7, etc.)
- Strong technical background with a deep understanding of Alcon's products or services.
- Customer-focused with a passion for providing technical solutions.
- Results-driven with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Ability to navigate and influence at all levels of the organization.
