General Responsibilities |
- Oversee the development and maintenance of course curriculum across all programs in collaboration with area program managers.
- Develop and deliver faculty professional development programs, ensuring alignment with current trends in adult and language education.
- Serve as a key member of the adjunct hiring and onboarding team.
- Teach up to 10 hours per week.
- Supervise hourly academic support positions.
- Participate in student intake, adjunct hiring, course assignments, evening and weekend class support, semester start-ups, and end-of-the-semester activities.

Work Performed |
Teach 5-10 hours per week, which may include evenings or weekends.
Curriculum Development:
- In collaboration with program managers, oversee the development and implementation of course curriculum, including scope and sequence, learner profiles, and pre-/post-tests.
- Work with program managers on the selection of appropriate textbooks and coordinate the distribution of associated physical and digital resources for all classes.
Faculty Professional Development:
- Develop and implement a yearlong staff development program for all instructors in collaboration with program managers.
- Maintain current knowledge of new developments, research, and methodologies in the field to inform identification of programmatic professional development needs.
- Develop and present professional development sessions as needed.
Faculty Recruitment and Onboarding:
- Work with program managers to recruit, interview, and hire faculty.
- Participate in the assigning of new and returning adjuncts to classes each semester.
- Onboard new adjunct faculty, ensuring all required trainings are completed and overseeing the mentoring program.
Faculty Evaluation:
- Oversee the teacher/program evaluation process, including new teacher mid-semester evaluations, end-of-the-year course evaluations, mid-year program evaluations, and end-of-the-year program evaluations.
- Conduct faculty observations in conjunction with the Languages & Culture curricular leadership team each semester.
Programmatic support:
- Serve as the primary point-of-contact for Intensive ESL adjuncts, answering questions and providing updates on deadlines and programmatic requirements.
- Serve as an international (F-1) visa student advisor.
- Participate in unit registration sessions, start-ups, and end-of-the-semester activities.
- Supervise part-time academic support positions.

- Minimum of five years of adult basic skills or language education in a post-secondary institution.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in course and curriculum development in adult basic skills or language education.
- Professional development presentation experience and mentoring experience required.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Regular attendance is a requirement of this job.
- Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives.

HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The
