Our part time Upward Bound Math Science (UBMS) tutor provides academic support to high school students (grades 9-12) in core subjects, with a focus on math and science. This position works with students individually and in small groups to enhance their understanding of key concepts, improve academic skills, and develop effective study habits. The tutor will assist in creating an engaging, supportive, and inclusive environment to help students achieve their academic and college-preparation goals.
Location of Work: Downtown Canton Satellite Campus
Typical Hours of Work: a maximum of 29 hours per week

Typical Responsibilities Include:
* Providing tutoring in mathematics, science, and other core subjects as needed.
* Assisting students in grades 9-12 with understanding challenging topics, completing assignments, and preparing for exams.
* Helping students develop effective study strategies, note-taking techniques, and time management skills.
* Fostering an encouraging and supportive environment that motivates students to succeed academically.
* Documenting tutoring sessions, including student progress and areas needing improvement.
* Participating in regular meetings with UBMS staff and provide feedback on student performance.
To be Considered You'll Need:
- To be currently enrolled in or completed a Bachelor's degree program in Education, Math, Science, or a directly-related field
- Demonstrated proficiency in high school level mathematics and science
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to work effectively with diverse student populations
- A commitment to the mission of the Upward Bound Math and Science program
