Sr Scientist, R&D - Product Dev - Sauces & Condiments

Role

This is a technical leadership role providing direction for and execution of projects across our North American Sauces & Condiments. The candidate will be identifying, scoping and driving technical projects to meet business initiatives focused on innovation, renovation and brand maintenance. This candidate should have a proven record of executing work plans and driving for results. This includes understanding the business need, designing, and executing tests, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, documenting, communicating results, and commercializing products. Proven communication and teamwork skills are essential in this role, which operates in a cross-functional environment. The candidate must also have a strong technical background and be able to apply prior learning or scientific principles to new situations. This position requires an individual to manage multiple assignments/tasks concurrently and demonstrate the ability to complete work with minimal guidance. Exhibiting a collaborative mindset and applying innovative solutions are a must.

Key Components

  • Responsible for developing and commercializing new products, renovating existing products, and delivering cost savings across the Sauces & Condiments portfolio.
  • The candidate will be scoping and/or driving highly technical and complex projects to meet the business' platform and innovation objectives.
  • Opportunities may exist to lead junior developers on projects.
  • Conduct feasibility assessments, prototype development, costing, supervision of factory trials, development of recipe and factory documentation, recipe and label development, technical approval, shelf-life assessment and technical support for initial factory production.
  • Apply prior learning or scientific principles to new situations.
  • Manage multiple assignments/ tasks concurrently and demonstrate the ability to complete work with minimal guidance.
  • Exhibiting a collaborative mindset and applying innovative solutions are a must.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Food Science or Chemical Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years in a Technical Function (which can include internship work)
  • Solid understanding of food chemistry, analytical testing, formulations, and processing used in food manufacturing
  • Sauce and condiment experience preferred
  • Understanding of ingredient functionality and interrelationship of ingredients, process, and packaging
  • Excellent communication, influencing, project management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead, coach and motivate others
  • Manage multiple assignments/tasks concurrently with the ability to question the priority of work
  • Strong understanding of Design of Experiments
  • Willingness to travel 30%

Le candidat identifiera, etablira la portee et stimulera des projets techniques pour repondre aux initiatives commerciales axees sur l'innovation, la renovation et le maintien de la marque. Ce candidat devrait avoir fait ses preuves dans l'execution des plans de travail et la recherche de resultats.   • Responsable du developpement et de la commercialisation de nouveaux produits, de la renovation des produits existants et de la realisation d'economies de couts dans l'ensemble du portefeuille de sauces et de condiments.
  • Le candidat etablira la portee et/ou poursuivra des projets hautement techniques et complexes pour atteindre la plateforme et les objectifs d'innovation de l'entreprise.
  • Il peut y avoir des possibilites de diriger des promoteurs juniors sur des projets.
  • Effectuer des evaluations de faisabilite, le developpement de prototypes, l'etablissement des couts, la supervision des essais en usine, l'elaboration de la documentation sur les recettes et les usines, l'elaboration de recettes et d'etiquettes, l'approbation technique, l'evaluation de la duree de conservation et le soutien technique pour la production initiale de l'usine.
  • Appliquer les acquis ou les principes scientifiques a de nouvelles situations.
  • Gerer plusieurs affectations / taches simultanement et demontrer la capacite d'effectuer le travail avec un minimum de conseils.
  • Faire preuve d'un etat d'esprit collaboratif et appliquer des solutions innovantes est un must.

Exigences

  • BS/MS en sciences de l'alimentation ou en genie chimique
  • Minimum de 5 ans dans une fonction technique (qui peut inclure un stage)
  • Solide comprehension de la chimie des aliments, des tests analytiques, des formulations et de la transformation utilisees dans la fabrication des aliments
  • Experience de sauce et de condiment preferee
  • Comprehension de la fonctionnalite des ingredients et de l'interrelation des ingredients, du processus et de l'emballage
  • Excellentes competences en communication, en influence, en gestion de projet et en resolution de problemes
  • Capacite de diriger, d'encadrer et de motiver les autres
  • Gerer plusieurs affectations/taches en meme temps que la capacite de remettre en question la priorite du travail
  • Solide comprehension de la conception des experiences
  • Volonte de voyager 30 %

    New Hire Base Salary Range:

    $85,400.00 - $106,800.00

    Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.

    The compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors
