Job Description

Job Summary

This individual will control and manage all aspects of the purchasing cycle for hardware, software, and other contractors or services for the IS&T department. This individual will also assist non-IS&T Jefferson employees needing to purchase IT equipment or services by providing product and process advice, consulting, and purchasing-related communications and follow-through. Other responsibilities include managing full-time and temporary purchasing agents and initiating and managing vendor price and service negotiations, contracts, and license agreements.

Essential Functions

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Leading IT procurement efforts for equipment, software and related IT services
  • Consult with clients to manage, maintain and track IT purchasing requests and provide guidance on established processes for equipment purchases, budget and delivery estimates
  • Communicate bulk requests with vendors and internal inventory team; follow inventory management process and communicate updates to clients and vendors
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure up to date product pricing, handle escalated issues and oversee vendor Jefferson websites to reflect the standard hardware and software offerings available for client purchases. Obtain competitive bids and negotiate prices.
  • Handle all escalated IT procurement issues or service issues
  • Liaise with IT PMs to manage large IT purchase requests

Calendaring - Knowledge of and ability to use office electronic calendaring software and capabilities

Problem Solving - Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems, ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations

Familiarity with desktop operating systems, applications, and hardware is required, particularly with Dell and Apple equipment. Ability to work independently, and answer client questions/make recommendations regarding their hardware and software needs. This individual must have outstanding organizational skills and be able to maintain a complex procurement and tracking process. Background in desktop support is a plus but not required.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma Required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
