The Associate Dean for Research and Global Engagement provides visionary leadership to advance the research and global mission of Jefferson College of Nursing (JCN). This role fosters an innovative and collaborative research environment, drives the expansion of externally funded research, and strengthens JCN's global academic and industry partnerships. The Associate Dean cultivates a culture of scientific inquiry and mentorship, supporting faculty in developing transformative research that addresses critical health challenges. Additionally, this position oversees the strategic development of international collaborations, ensuring JCN's faculty and students are engaged in globally impactful scholarship and academic exchange. The Associate Dean serves as JCN's primary research and global engagement advocate within Thomas Jefferson University and the broader academic and professional community.

Essential Functions:

* Establish and lead a robust research enterprise that aligns with JCN's strategic
priorities and advances its national and international reputation.
* Expand the college's portfolio of externally funded research through strategic
grant acquisition and faculty mentorship in research development and
grantsmanship.
* Strengthen JCN's PhD in Nursing Program, collaborating with the PhD Program
Director to enhance curriculum, research opportunities, and student success.
* Foster interdisciplinary, interprofessional, and transdisciplinary research
initiatives across Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Health, industry, and
global partners.
* Oversee and strategically direct the Office of Research and Global
Engagement, ensuring a high impact research agenda and visibility through an
enhanced digital presence.
* Develop and manage the annual budget for the Office of Research and Global
Engagement in collaboration with the Dean and Assistant Vice President of
Business Planning.
* Serve as a key liaison to university research and global engagement offices,
including Research Administration, Institutional Advancement, and the
Jefferson Center for Global Engagement.
* Establish and maintain a centralized repository of faculty research activities,
grant submissions, publications, and international collaborations.
* Promote faculty engagement with national and international research
sponsors, funding agencies, and scholarly organizations.
* Ensure JCN faculty have access to critical research infrastructure, compliance
resources, and development opportunities.
* Represent JCN on university-wide research and global engagement
committees/offices, contributing to institutional policies and strategic
initiatives, including Jefferson's Research Administration Center
of Excellence (RACE), Office of Human Research Protection (OHRP), Office of
Research Support Services (ORSS), University Counsel, Office of Institutional
Advancement (OIA), and Jefferson Center for Global Engagement.
* Develop, implement, and assess strategic research and global engagement
initiatives in alignment with JCN's mission and goals.
* Foster a culture of research excellence through faculty mentorship, research
training programs, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
* Enhance JCN's global footprint through sustainable international partnerships,
academic exchange programs, and collaborative research endeavors.
* Communicate research and global engagement priorities effectively to internal
and external stakeholders.
* Engage with philanthropic and industry partners to secure additional research
funding and sponsorship opportunities.
* Perform additional responsibilities as required to advance JCN's research and
global engagement agenda.
* Provide exceptional service of the highest quality to all customers representing
JCN's internal and external communities of interest.
* Interact with co-workers, partners, visitors, and other staff consistent with the
Jefferson values

Job Description

Qualifications:

Educational /Training Requirements:

Research doctorate (PhD) in nursing or related field. Research scholarship that aligns with Jefferson's strengths.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registration:

Eligibility for Pennsylvania registered nurse licensure

Experience Requirements:

* Established research program with a history of substantial external funding.

* Strong peer-reviewed publication record.

* Demonstrated success in fostering collaborative research partnerships across
disciplines.

* Experience teaching at the doctoral level.

* Extensive experience mentoring faculty and doctoral students in research and
scholarship, including
as chair/member of dissertations and doctoral projects.

* Academic leadership experience with expertise in research administration and
faculty development.

* Proven ability to develop and manage research initiatives and global engagement
programs.

* Relevant experience regarding development of faculty scholarship.

* Demonstrated acumen with regard to research regulatory, budget development
and grantsmanship.
