We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Staff Accountant to join our team!

Working under the supervision of the VP of Finance, Manager, Accounting and Sr. Accountants, the Staff Accountant will provide accounting, financial and operational support to the Accounting Department.

As the Staff Accountant, your daily duties may include:

  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly financial statement preparation and ledger closing process for HPP lines of business. Pe monthly bank account reconciliation's
  • Enter monthly journal entries into ledger accounting software.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries for assigned cash and administrative accounts.
  • Maintain monthly journal entry in Document Control Work>Journal Entry network folder.
  • Assist in the preparation of statements and exhibits for audit preparation for Audited Statutory Statements ;
  • Prepare quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Perform, develop, and prepare account analysis of various general ledger accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of exhibits for quarterly and annual regulatory and compliance reporting. Prepare Department of Insurance (DOI) statutory health statement, Department of Health (DOH) Survey, and Department of Public Welfare (DPW) financial reports.
  • Assist in financial operations activities specifically initiation of the weekly medical claims check and monthly capitation check process.
  • Prepare account analysis of various general ledger accounts.
  • Interact with all departments, specifically: Actuary, Claims, Pharmacy, UM, Medical Affairs, Information Systems, Internal Audit and Human Resources to coordinate additional information necessary for monthly close and regulatory reporting.
  • Provide input to Accounting Manager and work with team members to meet or exceed reporting requirements and functional objectives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller and Accounting Manager

Qualifications

  • The position requires a B.S. in Accounting with 3-6years of experience in accounting role or function.
  • Prior industry experience in healthcare or insurance is a plus.
  • Public accounting experience is a plus.
  • CPA/MBAA designation is plus.

Skills, We Value:

  • Solid accounting skills and understanding of GAAP/ and or STAT accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Experience with mid-tier general ledger software.
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks / projects at once.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Word software
