Reimagine What's Possible

The East Gulf Coast (EGC) Business Director is responsible for all commercial activity for on-site and pipeline products supplied by HyCO in the East Gulf Coast area. This individual will provide matrix leadership to the EGC operations team, accounting, finance and other support personnel. As the senior Air Products representative in the area, this person will be the face of the organization and will interact with external stakeholders, including government officials and customers. Working closely with the Gulf Coast Business Manager and Operations Team, this individual will drive profitability in the region. This role has full P&L accountability, including top line maximization and cost management / optimization following the affordability model. The incumbent will assume the Strategic Relationship Manager (SRM) role for strategic accounts and will work closely with the Business Development organization to execute major projects and grow the business.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize safety as the number one goal and advocate for "Zero is Achievable" safety policy.
  • Drive strategy development, sales, customer relationship management, government relations strategy, contract negotiation, and asset management.
  • Directly supervises a commercial team of account / asset managers, plus administrative support.
  • Build and lead a high-performance team and develop effective succession plans.
  • Partner with Human Resources to hire, develop and retain talent.
  • Manage the P&L to meet sales and EBITA targets consistent with the Operating Plan.
  • Improve business returns through the use of the affordability model, driving top line pricing, managing maintenance cost, improving contractual conditions on renewals, monetizing available molecules and executing on portfolio management.
  • Identify project and customer opportunities to profitably grow the EGC Area in collaboration with the Business development team, especially in the low CI product offering.
  • Oversee customer project development, capital project scoping, pricing, proposal development and contract negotiation.
  • Work closely with the government relations team on outreach and engagement plan with government entities and communities in Louisiana.
  • Manage the EGC Area office including all administrative activity, and staffing accommodations.
  • Manage relationships and provide leadership to key support functions including PROS, Engineering, Finance, Law, Marketing, etc.

  • Ability to understand complex commercial contractual agreements as well as cost stack and its impact to P&L in order to build a strategy to support business sustainability and growth.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to balance working collaboratively and acting independently to deliver results.
  • Effective and strong leader with proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and promote a teamwork philosophy.
  • Excellent analytical skills and business acumen.
  • Must be a self-starter who has a track record of being able to step up and take action as needed to achieve desired results.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, think critically, and work pragmatically to solve problems.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree is required, engineering disciplines preferred.
  • MBA highly desirable.
  • Minimum 10+ years of business development and commercial experience.
  • Minimum 10+ years of managing teams.
