ASC Scheduler - Full-time, Days, Ambulatory Surgery

Job Description

The ASC Scheduler is responsible for coordinating the Ambulatory Surgery Center's schedule. This position is the primary contact for physician offices and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the integrity of the Surgery Center's Schedule. Responsibilities include but not limited to: Scheduling surgical/procedural cases accurately and timely into the Center's Practice Management System; cancels, transfers or deletes cases as requested or needed and maintains physician block time utilization.
  • Responsible for ensuring accurate reporting and generates a weekly report according to the timelines set forth.
  • Generates monthly infection control reports and routing to the assigned team member.
  • Reports cancellation after admissions to QI committee and records assigned key indicators on the revenue cycle management dashboard.
  • Practice Management System. Notifies proper management with any discrepancy prior to putting case on the schedule.
  • Accurately enters patient and insurance demographics. Assigns medical record numbers.
  • Responsible in reporting weekly volume and bi-weekly volumes.
  • Tracks all incoming TSW's and maintains a working folder.
  • Contacts Physicians' Office promptly to resolve discrepancies' related to scheduling cases.
  • Documents notes in the Practice Management System as directed by policy and procedure.
  • Answer telephone as needed and follows the telephone etiquette standards set forth by the Center.
  • Identifies procedural/surgical codes not payable at an ASC prior to entering in Practice Management System.
  • Consistently identifies gaps in the schedule and notifies appropriate team members.
  • Performs other miscellaneous/clerical duties as needed.
  • Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization.
  • May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.


Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

Minimum Work Experience

  • 1-3 years Medical office or health care related experience Required

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD9/ICD10, Third Party Reimbursement, and HIPAA regulations/compliance.
  • Computer literate and experienced in Excel.
  • Very strong organization skills.
  • Demonstrated competency in working on teams with ability to effectively communicate at all levels.
  • Proven assessment skills of both people and operations.
  • Customer driven.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to function in high paced, often stressful environment and/or circumstances while maintaining a respectful, caring and professional manner.
