Job Details
Since 1935, Columbia Distributing has been dedicated to serving people and brands. The Beer Careers Program provides developing leaders with immersive 10-week training in the wholesale beverage industry. Its purpose is to provide fundamental knowledge of the business in support of building long-term careers. Candidates who successfully complete the program will be eligible for full-time positions within Columbia Distributing. Beer Careers Program Overview:
- A two phase paid immersion program for 6 to 7 students who wish to develop and partake in real problem-solving scenarios and leadership-building opportunity.
- Phase one is 10 weeks were you'll gain immersive knowledge in the beverage industry and network with beer, wine, spirits and non-alch professional leaders in sales, operations and many more!
- After phase one 2 students will be selected for Phase two of the program and will gain training and shadowing experience with the C-Suite, participate in the LEAN yellow belt certification program, complete a leadership training and travel through WA and OR.
- Shadowing on all major departments in our business, including a focus on Operations and Sales dependent on the mentor and your skills (assigned during the selection process).
- Participation in real-world, problem-solving projects including an end-of-term Capstone Project.
- Participation in Columbia-sponsored social events, supplier tours, and learning activities.
- Networking with senior company leaders.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Actively learn and contribute to programs, projects, and events as assigned by mentor and/or department managers/leads.
- Timely completion of projects and tasks as designated.
- Maintain cooperative and team-oriented relationships with co-workers, managers and others.

Requirements:
- Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college/university program as an undergrad in Sales/Business Administration, Supply Chain Operations, Operations or Business Analytics, Craft Brewing, Business Analytics, or other relevant degree.
- Valid driver license with acceptable driving record and auto insurance.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Demonstrated leadership skills through school, community involvement, extracurricular activities, etc.
Physical Elements:
- Lift/Carry 50 lbs. repetitively for most of a shift.
- Lift/Carry up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Push/Pull 50 lbs. for the majority of a shift.
- Push/Pull up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
- Bend/Stoop/Crouch/Squat throughout a shift
- Use arms/wrists/hands/grasp throughout a shift.

Work Environment:
- Majority of this position will reside in an office, warehouse, and/or retail setting. Some work will be performed outside when necessary.
Travel:
- This position is based in Kent, WA or Wilsonville, OR. Some traveling within the Pacific Northwest may be required as program requirements demand.
Compensation
- Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, certifications, and specific location.
- Employees (and their families) are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan. Employees are also eligible for 80 hours of vacation every year and 7-8 days of paid holidays throughout the calendar year (depending on location).
- Hired applicant may be eligible for [incentives/ bonuses/ annual bonuses].
The review and selection process will take place from January through March 2025.
